first impression with a mantis from a friend, improved shooting with all glocks almost immediately, finally bought a mantis with some adapter bottoms and train every day....it works to improve shooting!

I purchased this along with a very realistic 1911 airsoft pistol. I set up a shooting range in my garage and have put >1000 rounds down range using it. Makes it super convenient to practice at home, is a ton of fun, and I've confirmed that the training directly translates to greater accuracy at the range. 10/10 would recommend!

I I started with a 91 average,, and within a month I was shooting it in 94.5. highest score of 99.5. very critical range partner.

Been shooting my whole life including some competitive rimfire and biathlon. Pistol was something new however and I was shocked how poorly I shot at first. After much practice the groups tightened but it was slow going and costing a small fortune in ammo and range time. Got the Mantis X and started working in dry fire practice almost every day. I already understood the principles but having this thing rap my knuckles with a low score every time I slipped really helped. Just returned from the range after using it for live fire and the results were excellent. Huge leap in my progress. I doubt burning through an equal amount of money in ammo would have come close to the improvements. The helpful plots are showing me that my fundamentals have improved pretty drastically but I now need to work on a steadier hold as any deviation during the trigger pull seems fairly random.

Amazing, in concept, hardware and software app. Dramatic improvement merely by dry firing. Shooting is like golf, all about form. Like having your own personal pro. Only downside is you'll outgrow it rapidly, but that's because it works.

I absolutely love training with the MantisX system! I love pushing myself. And I love showing others how it works. The Mantis X is like an Instructor on your side. I increased my accuracy by 50% in only a week by dry fire repetition and the cell phone apps feedback. To get all you can get from your dryfire practice, I recommend the use of a Laserlyte Cartridge to provide resistance to wear of the striker pin. The back of the Cartridge is actually a switch that activates a pulse laser. It provides visual feedback on where your shot would have landed after the trigger pull. Combined with the Mantis X, you will then have the most interactive and fun dryfire training system available and your dryfire practice at home directly translates to improvements at the range during live fire exercises. It is great to see you progress from week to week.

Super valuable training right in your home. The sensitivity and Feedback are Amazing! Finding out our problems in dry fire has saved a lot of money in ammunition. I've drastically improve my skill after only two weeks. I train only with CO2 pistols but my results with firearms (preferably, CZ-75) literally jump over two levels. "There is no need to shoot at 10 meters any more - you get it all in 10", - said my coach yesterday.

The Mantis system has been a great help in refining my trigger control in a way that was not possible before. The selection of 1911 pattern pistols with rails is not very large but the MantisX was the reason I persisted and found one!

This is not a target site, but rather a movement device. Does a pretty good job in helping you determine what movements you are making explaining why you are having problems hitting that target.

I have this device a week and I am seriously impressed. Ive only ever dry fired my Beretta 87T yet and it is 99.9% correct in detecting dry fires and not registering racking to reload. Well done in a super product.

I’m an NRA Basic Pistol Instructor and use the MantisX during every class. The improvement it makes for new shooters is beyond words! The results are truly awesome!

I am an Instructor, gunsmith, and FFL. I have used MantisX with students, myself and my wife. My wife's unsolicited comment to me after returning from the range after using MantisX for a couple weeks was - "MantisX helped me reduce my group size". Personally, for me, as an instructor I can watch and help YOU, but I can't see me... MantisX pointed out to me that I wasn't bringing in my support elbow in enough, locking in my grip, among other tweaks. One student with a new, stock gun, noticed his "yellow line" was shorter after I installed an aftermarket trigger in his gun, visually with MantisX, as well as on paper. I can see using this as a tool to help me sell more trigger jobs by visually proving to the customer where their deficiencies are. A different student was able to identify that he was "done for the day", meaning he had reached his point of diminishing returns for practice after seeing his scores decline towards the end of practice, fatigue, dehydration, etc. I am looking forward to app updates, more courses etc!

After spending evenings practicing with mantis, I was able to shoot my most consistent 10 shot group ever. I had no idea that I was shifting the bearing surface of my finger and throwing of my groups!

This product preformed exactly as I had hoped. Well, kind of. I thought I was a good shot and the Mantis corrected me instantly. I’d recommend a fellow shooter to buy 100 percent of the time.

I bought the MantisX to aid in my pistol shooting. It is hard to get to the range as frequently as I would like. After doing a lot of reading and watching of videos, I took the leap. Best money I have spent to date to improve my shooting. Fun for the wife and I when we have our friendly competitions during a dry fire session.

I don’t normally write reviews, however, this is a great tool in helping with dry-fire drills and actually makes dry-fire interesting. Granted I only had this for a day, I can see this being a valuable tool in detecting common mistakes invisible to the naked eye and helping me work on those errors and improve my pistol marksmanship.

Good tool, arrived quickly

I have been using the MantisX system for a little over 2 weeks now and the results are just amazing. I went from low to mid 80% to finally breaking into the 90% range. I feel a little more confident about handling my daily carry firearm to boot! I definitely like the surprise incentive of finishing the Basic Marksman course on the app giving the user a morale patch for the effort... I cannot wait to put that on my range bag. I really like the MantisX system because for me... I have a girlfriend who is a bit disabled from health complications which limits how much ammo I can buy for a range trip or when I can go to the range. With the MantisX system, I can do dryfire practice at home but instead of guessing if my technique is alright or not... the app provides so much valuable feedback on my technique that I feel substantial progress from my dry-fire practice at home. It is been great being able to keep sharpening up my technique with feedback even if I am pressed for time and/or finances with regards to my circumstances. Thanks for making such a neat device! I am going to have to find time to put bullets to paper to see the fruits of my dry-fire practice.

I was also skeptical whether Mantis X really works. After using it just one hour I realized this thing is a miracle. It has improved my groups, my grip, and my stance. It is super accurate. It’s like having a shooting instructor by your side every session. What you spend on the MantisX you will save in wasted ammo at the range. I use it every day and it apart of my training regiment from now on.

It works as described and has made me a better shot. A little pricy.

I don't know how it works, does not mount on my carry gun (Springfield Armory XDS). Caution if you plan on using it on a sub compact with a barrel length shorter then 3.5. Just informed it has to be mounted backwards, but will work. Great response time upgraded review to a 4 star based on their response time. Will revisit once I use it.

I am an instructor for about 20 years. I have a very strict dry-practice regime and adding the MantisX to my training program has given me valuable information and has helped me become a better shooter. On March 29th as we were getting ready to take the kids to Orlando for their Spring Break, right as I sat in driver's side, in my driveway, I suffered a stroke at the age of 44. A portion of the left side of my brain was damaged and my speech was impacted. Today, just three weeks later, I shot at the range for the first time since my stroke. The images are of my performance three weeks since my stroke. Because I have historical data on my performance thanks to MantisX, I was able to go to the range today and shoot a few drills only to have the MantisX confirm that my ability to shoot and accuracy has not been impacted by my stroke. Thank you MantisX for giving me the tool I needed to confirm that all is well with my shooting performance.

The Mantisx really is a cost effective training device, though the cost of the device is $158, this allows a shooter to practice and work on their marksmanship skills without having to pay for marksmanship instruction, ammo and associated range fees to determine (average cost about $200+) This allows a shooter to perform effective dry fire training and become more accurate and capable shooters. The Mantisx apps also has training sessions designed to focus on accuracy, speed. performing primary single handed and off handed shooting sessions. This device provides appropriate training for different levels of shooters and can be adapted for dry fire, live fire, and airsoft(co2). I highly recommend this product however a word of caution for new users, VERIFY YOUR SETTING prior to using on rifle or pistol. If your the mantisx app is incorrectly set YOUR SHOTS WILL NOT REGISTER.

It works great and I can see it's having a positive impact on my shooting ability. My only complaint is that you can't use the mobile application without signing up for an account. I wish there was a way to use it offline so I could be sure it's not collecting any data on my use of it.

The MantisX not only shows what is happening, But also provides advice on how to correct the errors. Paper targets don't provide the correction.

My buddy had one at the range this weekend. I decided to buy after the very first shot. That was probably an hour after I heard about it. I was not excited at all until that first shot. Instant feedback = instant decision to purchase. After pulling the trigger he showed me the feedback and I said "how much did this cost you?" It only took 60 seconds to finally figure out how to shoot a Glock. I'm 35. I've been trying to figure that out since I was 15.

First off I want to thank you for making the Mantis. I shoot IDPA and have a chronic left and low left shooting problem with my Glocks. I started using the Mantis 2 weeks ago and followed the intro and the basic marksmanship course and yesterday competed in my first steel challenge and took 3rd in the Production division. I truly feel that the Mantis helped me get there with better and more consistent trigger control.

I love the fact that I can used this system any time and pretty much anywhere! I have the opportunity to practice as much as I want even though my be bad weather and late nites at work! I love the MantisX!!! Money well spent!

Great tool to work out your shooting kinks without wasting real ammo. Worth every penny because of that alone but also great instructions and immediate feedback from app is a bonus.

As I am not visiting the range too often, I was trying to do the dry practice, but without any feedback there was no big impact on the live fire results. When I got MantisX, not only the Dry practice became more interesting and I started to do it more often, but also the results at the range are going up! Since I got my MantisX, I did already more than 1000 dry practice shots and for each shot I get the feedback on how to improve my marksmanship skills.

Mantis has helped me with my trigger control and tells me when I'm anticipating. Great little device to practice at home with. I've saved a lot of money in ammo.

I’ve been a police officer for over 20 years. As time has passed I’ve developed some bad habits even though I practice shoot every other week. My goal was to tighten my groups up as much as possible. I shoot good now, but I wanted as close to perfect as I could possibly get. I first tried to address my issues with dry firing. I’d dry fire for 30 times a day for months, but saw no real progress in my groups. When I dry fired the front sight never appeared to move to my eye. So, I bought a laserlyte laser bullet device that shoots a red laser out of the barrel every time I dry fired. That helped me quite a bit and made dry firing fun as I could aim at random objects in my house. It’s great for point and shoot practicing. But my trigger pull and other issues were not addressed. Even the firearms trainers at work didn’t help me much at all. “Oh you’re jerking the trigger!”, such help right there thanks. So, I bought MantisX as an impulse buy. I can’t even remember how I found it. Anyhow I read the Amazon reviews and clicked buy it now. It was delivered quickly. Nicely packaged. Downloaded the app. I was using it within I’d say 3 minutes. The MantisX corrected the issues I had been trying to work on for the past two years in ten minutes. Now I am using it to pull the trigger faster and faster to develope a trigger pull with speed with accuracy. I am simply blown away by this product. I have no idea how it can tell what I’m doing wrong, but it knows. Even when I swear the sight isn’t moving at all when I dry fire it picks up my mistakes. So let me break this down. If you dry fire without the MantisX and have an issue, you’ll only practice the issue over and over again. With the MantisX you’ll see in real time what’s going on, will have an explanation on how to fix it, and practice with better technique instead of pulling the trigger over and over again doing the same mistakes. It’s worth the money. One of the best products I have ever purchased. Update: 21 June 2018, After a few weeks of solely practicing with the MantisX every night, I finally hit the range with live fire. Every night, I unload my duty weapon and put the MantisX on it and place it in the kitchen. Every time I walk by the kitchen, I do a minute or two worth of practice. It’s hard to put down it’s so gratifying. It’s been raining and I’ve been working a lot of police extra duty so I haven’t had time to hit the PD range. I had firearms training today. I had no clue what to expect, I was sort of curious and nervous at the same time. It’s been two months since I last hit the range. I never shot as well as I did today. I went from large groups to shooting expert level groups. In fact, I had the tightest groups out of anyone that shot that day easily. Keep in mind I already used to dry fire every night before I got the MantisX and I saw hardly any improvement. It’s not just dry firing, it’s correction. I am sold on this device. Absolutely love this product. I’m able to dry fire practice with real time results as well as have the same real time results and help during live fire training. My local gun shop got these in and took the time to show me all the features and let me try their demo gun out. This little gem is worth every penny and has let me practice at home before I get to the range. The MANTISX has helped my shooting get better. When I take it to the range and live fire with it, all I have to do is follow the what the app says I am doing incorrect and make the change that it tells me to and the target tells the rest of the story. The MANTISX has saved me a ton of money on ammo when you consider 9mm is roughly .25 cents per round this has saved me at least twice the initial purchase price of the MANTISX before I ever shot a live round after getting the unit. Great product and great dealer for taking the time to show this to me.

This thing is awesome. The fact that you have such detailed telemetry on each shot tells you immediately what needs work. And you can start making proactive corrections on the next shot.

I purchased this because it's extremely inconvenient for me to get to a range, and I wanted to at least get some meaningful practice while dry firing. The big drawback that dry firing has is that you really don't get any feedback except your own subjective feelings about how each shot was. This is where the MantisX shines. It gives you quantitative feedback, in the form of a percentage score, for each dry fired shot. The percentages are a reflection of the weapon's stability on the point of aim, with 100% being perfect. With each shot, the MantisX tracks the weapon's movement just before, during, and just after the trigger pull. Based on your movements during firing, you get both a score and coaching on how to improve your stability. I've found both to be immensely useful. The MantisX app tracks all of your shots, and you can sync across multiple devices. The device works well during live firing too, but your scores and feedback will be slightly different because dry firing is inherently different. I did find, however, that by dry firing and following the coaching given, I was able to improve live fire performance. There is one other important area in which MantisX excels: customer service. Being an American consumer, I'm used to waiting on hold and hearing, "Please listen carefully, our options have changed...", maybe talking to a surly customer service rep, and then having my question/concern be promptly ignored. Not so with these guys. I was having trouble syncing my data and sent an email asking if I needed to correct anything. I received a prompt response and they said they had adjusted the software to accommodate my data. I was pleasantly shocked. Folks, if you're looking for something to improve your marksmanship with both live and dry fire practice, look no further. This is a great product and it's backed by great customer service. It is well worth the cost, and you will be glad you got it. Update November 2018: Now that I’ve had this for a while, it just keeps getting better. The latest app update now provides voice feedback. Ever consider paying for some actual training to get better? This is a first purchase for anyone looking to train and actually get good. It's cheap and it gives you ridiculously FAST feedback and skill improvement. It's the cheapest, easiest, fastest and most portable way to improve shooting skills. Most accuracy issues relate to holding the gun wrong or pulling the trigger wrong. This will help sort you out.

The MantisX provides a tremendous amount of feedback during both dry-fire and live-fire training for the price. It has been invaluable in identifying and training trigger and grip issues. I would recommend it to anyone working on their precision shooting fundamentals.

I had been receiving a fair amount of training, approximately 80 hours in the last 18 months. One of the things I hated to do in practice was dry fire drills. Boring, boring, boring, and except for dime or casings on slides, there's little to no feedback. Now I dry fire a couple of hours a week, and have something to look at to see how I'm doing. I must say that the MantisX is a task master. It's very picky (which is good), and that just makes me strive to be better all the time. I go to the range once per week without fail. I think I was beginning to plateau with the repetition. The MantisX has made me a better shooter. I'm not bored with drills, live and dry! Keep up the GREAT work!

So far I have noticed a huge difference the mantis has shown me what I was doing wrong and helped me fix it! Wouldnt be where I am in the short amount of time I have had this unit without it!

With the options of live fire, dry fire, air soft (co2) or in my case PCP there is no longer the excuse not to practice, the hassles and set backs are no longer an issue. In the short amount of time that ive been using the system i have improved far more then i would have ever expected. Who would have ever thought you could actually improve your abilities from home without even firing a single live round at a target that is not even there. I would have loved to have heard of the Mantis X training system much sooner, i have no doubt i would be much further ahead. Then again with the ease of use and the constructive information from the the system it shouldnt be long before i reach my next level, i can already see improvement in a short amount of time . I would highly recommend this product to any individual at any level of their game. Both novice and seasoned shooters will find the Mantis X as a valuable tool.

I have had Mantis for about a month now and also have Itarget, and targetize and I must say while I like all three I LOVE my Mantis! Why? Because of all the training drills, and good advice on how to correct my errors and the training video it has for every drill practice. I have increased my marksmanship from about 87 to 93, my benchmark for last week was 96 plus and my grouping on the range has drastically improved even with more speed. I am now focusing on working with my strong hand only and my support hand only and trying to go from 83 to hopefully a 90 in the next couple of weeks. I really love the quick response from Austin whenever I have a question or comment and he always resolves them quickly. Would I recommend Mantis? Yes a 100% YES! I only started shooting a pistol in February and when I went to Front Sight Firearm Training Institute I missed getting a distinguished graduate by 13 points and I think my success was largely contributed by my dry practice from my Mantis and all the feedback suggestions it gave me. Thank you for all the help from Mantis and I look to more improvement overtime. Did I mention that it has saved me over $600 in ammo, so it has paid for itself several times over! Great deal.

Only used my Mantis x once and at the next range trip after a few rounds it would not turn on or charge I tried resetting it and 3 different micro USB cables it would only stay on when plugged in but I contacted Mantis and without any fuss they asked for my address and sent me a new unit.

I have contemplated getting this ever since I saw the features. I felt very skeptical but after reading reviews, seeing videos on the internet and hearing about the customer service I thought it was a small risk and big reward to try it. What’s in the box: Mantis X Micro USB Cable Screw fastener Knurled fastener Zippered leatherette case Before setting this up I downloaded the App which is required. Registration was quick. Pairing the device involved turning on the unit and pushing the app button. That was the the best part. It was seamless. No repeated attempts, and no logging into the unit by WIFI. It hooks up by Bluetooth. I have tried the device in dry fire, live fire and with my NLT SIRT Trainer. For the SIRT, sensitivity has to be adjusted to high and set on dry fire. The SIRT is a Glock 17 laser training pistol. It registers single shots most of the time. Multiple shots are erratic so it is doable but not consistent. Live fire is consistently registered but it tells me my errors on controlled pairs and triple shots. I’m still in the A Zone so I don’t know how accurate it’s critique is of me. Errors are annotated. Of note, there are links to videos that show what is incorrect and the method to fix it. I have only used free fire mode but there are other modes to included timed firing and magazine changes for example. Dry firing is the best and strictest form of practice with this. It is where it is very consistent with trigger pulls. I will use this for improving my one handed shooting with my dominant and non-dominant hand. As a baseline it indicates my left hand is averaging low 80s and my right hand is in the high 80s. Together my two hands are registering in the low to mid 90s. The app is full featured. It tracks data from one session to the next. Each shot is tracked from before the trigger pull, the actual trigger pull and the follow through. Where the shot goes is predicted on a circular target in the app. As I explore more features I will update the review. Whether you are a beginner, intermediate or advanced this will help. Highly recommend this.

I've seen a great improvement in my accuracy.

My wife and I attended a 4-day course at Front Sight in January. After coming back from Front Sight we purchased the Mantis system and began using it. The system was used for a couple of weeks before attending another 2-day course at Front Sight, our scores both improved as attested in our final testing for the courses.

My overall experience was a good one. I would recommend this to anyone that wants to learn how to shoot more effectively and more accurately in many different disciplines.
