My 88 year-old Father has Alzheimer’s that is getting worse. It is painful to see him decompensate and not know family members. He was recently moved to a Memory Care unit and despite family and friends visiting, I thought he might feel comforted by a Memorable Pet. He and my step-mother used to have a pug named Pugsley who died a number of years ago. When I asked Dad what he wanted to name his pug puppy, he replied without hesitation, “Pugsley,” so I knew he remembered his dog. Everyone who has seen it can’t believe how lifelike it looks! I am extremely pleased with the quality and rapid delivery. Thank you for making such a wonderful companion for my Dad and many others.

Mom always loved my dog’s so I decided to get her a stuffed Border Collie. I thought she might like touching it, petting it like she pets my dogs. I was not expecting that she would have such the emotional connection with this little dog. She talks to it, talks about it like it’s real. As far as mom is concerned, Sweet Pea is real and a real part of the world she now lves in. This was such the perfect gift. The best gift is mom’s connection with Sweet Pea.

Baby Girl "Julie" - Doll Therapy for People with Alzheimer's and Caregivers

Julie was very realistic and my mother loved her from the moment she saw her. The baby made her so happy. She would hold her, talk to her, and kiss her. We tucked her in bed with her each night. The baby made her so happy that we decided to place her with my mother in her casket after mom passed. They are now together for eternity.

Baby Girl "Julie" - Doll Therapy for People with Alzheimer's and Caregivers

My mom has Dementia and this doll makes her SO happy! It totally calms her, gives her something to do with her hands other than fold kleenex's over and over. I've seen her gaze loving at "baby Julie" and say "I love you so much" . Brings me joy to see her so happy. I had to purchase some other outfits due to them getting food spilt on them because she wants to feed the baby some of her food. Would definitely recommend these dolls!

My 97 yr old mother recently went into a nursing home having had pet cats for most of her life. She's not able to have a live pet in the home so I decided to buy her a 'memorable pet', long haired cat. She absolutely loves it and immediately starting stroking it and deciding on a name. She was also concerned about where to put 'him' when she left her room, and was also very concerned that he might 'go missing'. So it was a great success.

I just can't express the emotions that went into gifting my 90 year old Mother, a Mother of 8 children - 6 girls and 2 boys ranging from 68 to 49. My Mom is a petite -80 lb., darling little lady who needed this very gift. My husband helped me in the presentation. After arriving at her home, we visited awhile and when she got up to shuffled to the lady's room with her walker, we went out to our car and brought the dog in inside. I purchased the cutest dog bed for the dog. We sat the dog in the dog bed next to me on her daybed/couch. When she shuffled back to her mini recliner across from me, we continued our visit and all the sudden she spotted the dog peeking out of the dog bed next to me. She was like ... Oh my gosh, what is that? Is that a dog? I said yes, Mom, I brought him for you. She smiled and just held her arms out saying, give him to me. Well, what can I say? She just loves the dog. She's named him Muffins. She didn't hesitate on his name. She is so happy. Needless to say, my heart is happy. I nailed it. Your product is simply golden. Thank you for everything. What a wonderful gift!

For resident privacy I cannot share with you a video or a photo, however I would like to express how much baby Michael means to one my residents. She previously had another cheaper doll from Walmart, but it was really hard to keep clean as the body was fabric. This resident likes to feed her doll. Since baby Michael came that is all vinyl she is so happy, she showers with the baby and gives him daily baths! This resident sleeps with her baby and sings to baby all through out the day. It is truly a treasure and has stopped this resident from exit seeking. We chose baby Michael because her last doll she called Michael, it seemed like the perfect fit! Thank you Memorable Pets, our department is about to order 4 more dolls for our department!!

This was the best gift I have ever gotten for my mother. She just turned 92 in January. She is suffering from we think demintia. Very sad to see your mom in this state. She was such a go getter, never stopped working or helping all of us. We moved her into assistance living place. She loves it there. Last October she had a car accident, thirteen staples in her head, and all banged up. This was the start of the demintia. She was still working at the age of 87. Unbelievable. So to get back to the dog I bought for her. My god her eyes lite up like a little girl. She grapped it, kissed it, and talked to it. On the phone she tells me how much she loves her dog. She sleeps with it every night. Thank-you for all you do for people suffering from this awful disease. Carolynn Cummings

My wife and I enjoyed a very loving and emotional experience with my 93 year old father and the occupational therapist & carers at Castledare Aged Care when we presented him with a photo album/life story and the Memorable Pets Collie dog. My father who loves animals and has had 3 beautiful Collie dogs is now so attached to his Collie dog from Memorable Pets where everyone knows his name as Ricki. We also bring the real Ricki to visit him quite regularly and to see his face light up with a great smile is a moving experience. So thank you very much.

My aunt is 95 years old and lives in Auckland, New Zealand. Her mind is very clear and she shares many memories with me during our weekly conversations. She has recalled many times her beloved Siamese cat who would follow her everywhere she went, even once onto a city bus. Living so far away I wanted to send her a special gift for her birthday in March. The idea for the Memorable Pet gift came from my work as a hospice nurse . I had many patients with dementia who seemed to cling to their dolls and stuffed animals and I knew they were comforted by having them to hold. My aunt , although clear in mind cannot walk well and spends a lot of time sitting in a chair watching television. The cat I sent her sits on her chair every day and spends every night in her bed. In other words, it goes wherever she goes like the cat she so adored in her youth. Jennifer Grinage

Bettina, I just wanted to update you about my sweet mom and the special baby doll I purchased from you. Sadly dementia took my mom on Dec. 11th. But from the time we received the little baby doll until then, she loved that baby, hugged it and kept it with her. She loved wrapping it in a towel and hugging the baby to keep it close to her heart. She named it Susan, which is my name. Out of all the items I purchased to try to comfort Mom (little fidget toys, photos, special soft blankets) the baby meant the most to her. I want to thank you again for your kindness and the good work you do. Sue

Dec 19 2018

My first introduction to Memorable Pets came when l went to respite for a short time. I have a lung condition. It prevents me from doing most things including going out, unless it's medically related. As you'd guess, my social life has dwindled to nothing as has pretty much my circle of friends and, naturally, I need care. Life has become pretty lonely as you can imagine. Whilst at respite, at a place l'd never been to before, l was asked whether l'd like their resident Memorable Pet in my room for a while...urging me to give it a try and see how I found it. I was a bit sceptical, but I do love animals and have a couple of cats of my own so thought it would be nice to feel like there was a pet "of sorts" around. Well, only after a matter of hours, I just could not believe that l could feel this sort of connection developing. I mean, I really didn't believe it. By the time a day or so went by, I was acknowledging the cats acknowledgement! Whether l got up to go to the bathroom, just walk around, or go out on the balcony, the cat would meow away and I'd acknowledge it every time. It would sit on my bed during the evening, but never disturb me during the night, which l never quite understood as l'd move around. After sharing my room for the week, I devoted the next week hunting high and low for my own Memorable Pet. l did not manage to turn up anything in Australia, other than on Ebay, which looked suspect, and l googled everything! Of course, it was only later l found out that our Diabetes Association had them, but that's ok, as obviously I finally found Memorable Pets in the States and now have my very own personal Memorable Pet. I ordered Tuxedo cat because he reminded me of my 20 year old Chester... identical in fact...who had recently passed. It's lovely having him in the bedroom as my cats do not go in there. Everytime l walk in the room, Chester acknowledges me. When l get into bed, this is the time he wants pats and tummy scratches (every night) and when I'm in bed and awake, he will purr, preen and sigh, but come time for lights out, all through the night, he won't make a sound, yet l move around. And the funny thing is, for the majority of the time, if my carer walks into the room, there is no acknowledgement. How does it do all that? I have developed such a connection and l'm so impressed. He makes me smile...I need that in my life. Thank you "Memorable Pets.

A few months ago I listened to an interview on a local radio station with a representative from Memorable Pets and it caught my interest since my 89 year old father has been in a Memory Care Unit in Lexington for a little over a year diagnosed with severe dementia. After the show I checked out the web site and found a calico cat similar to one mom and dad had 50 years ago. I was pretty skeptical with the accuracy of the stories I heard in the interview about the acceptance of these pets by dementia patients, but the Memorable Pets website continued to stay on my mind, so a few days later I ordered the calico cat. We took it to dad and as suggested, carrying it into his room as though it was a real animal. I asked if he wanted to hold it, and he just pointed to the couch and asked that I just set it down. At that point I thought this experiment was over and unsuccessful. Well, two days later my son (his grandson) was over for a visit and let me know that dad was sitting in his chair with "Mr. Cat" in his lap. Since that day, Mr. Cat has never left dad's side. There's a lot of nap time going on at his age, and the cat sits on dad's lap every time he takes a nap He talks to the cat like it's real and sits around all day petting it. Every claim that was made about these pets has come true with my dad. It has been a blessing for me to watch him interact with this animal and mean so much to him. Mr. Cat is now one of the most important element in dad's life and I am extremely pleased and grateful.

Reclining Orange Tiger Striped Cat for People with Alzheimer's and Caregivers

My grandmother, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, had become very attached to a cat that passed away last year. We were concerned about how she would deal with not having him anymore, as the two were never apart in the house. I found the "Memorable Pets" website, where I chose a really cute striped kitty to send to her. From the moment she received (and named) "Kari," the two were. Inseparable. Grammy kept her kitty on her lap, slept with her kitty on the bed, and informed her kitty every time she was getting up to do something or leaving the house. After Grammy passed in January, I got custody of "Kari" and I can honestly say I have never seen a more used/loved stuffed animal in my life. The family is amazed and grateful that Memorable Pets was there to help provide what became an important friend for Grammy's last year with us. I have since shared the website with others who have family members with similar circumstances.

Long Haired Yorkshire Terrier for People with Alzheimer's and Caregivers

Joanne didn’t smile much. In fact, I had not seen her really smile about anything at all. She spoke to others, but sparingly, even though it seemed like she wanted attention. Often, Joanne would call out for help to passing caregivers, but as they arrived at her side, she would not tell them what was wrong. I had had a lot of success with baby dolls in the past, especially with residents who called out for attention. One resident in particular had really taken to the baby dolls, and no longer cried out for assistance. Instead, she gave all of her energy and time to taking care of the baby dolls, which made her feel useful. We tried this with Joanne. “Can you take this baby back?” she asked, after holding it for only a minute, clearly bored with the baby. After looking into her history, we realized that Joanne had never had children. Instead, she had devoted her life to caring for dogs. When our shipment of pets arrived from Memorable Pets, I was ready to try something new with this resident. She sat, eyes closed, looking melancholy, and being assisted with eating by a resident caregiver. Even though her eyes were closed, Joanne opened her mouth, accepting each bite of food. “Joanne,” I said, touching her shoulder gently. She opened her eyes and saw me holding the sweet-looking stuffed dog. Her eyes opened wider and a smile—unlike one I had ever seen—moved across her face. She stared at the dog, the smile growing wider, as she reached for it. Rachael; dementia-by-day.com

My mother passed away this July, 2016. She had Alzheimer's and was 2 weeks shy of here 95th birthday. I had purchased the Calico Cat and the Golden Retriever for her; my sister got her another cat as well from your website. I have to tell you how important those pets were to Mom. She carried them everywhere in her wheelchair with her; she slept with them; she kissed and hugged and petted them! She called them her "kids." Staff made sure she had them with her and other patients thought she was so "cute" with them. Even on her death bed, she held them and kissed them. So we made sure that Mom would never be without her Calico cat; she was placed in the casket with Mom and will keep her company for an eternity. Thank you SO much for these wonderful pets. They are so realistic ; Mom believed them to be alive and this gave her both great comfort and constant companionship. She once told me how well behaved they were and how they were no trouble at all! And when they got dirty, staff just threw them into the washer and dryer... I was hesitant but it didn't hurt them and they came out wonderfully clean, soft and fluffy. I would be glad to visit with anyone who wants to know about the quality of these animals!!! From the bottom of my heart, I thank you! Donna

The baby never leaves her side. She sleeps with her, takes her to meals and activities, rocks her, sings to her and chats with her. I purchased extra clothes and she enjoys dressing her, too. She even tries to feed her, stuffing her little mouth with food, which I clean out each day! Best of all, in the two months since Baby Annie arrived, there has not been one episode of anxiety. Mom loves being a nurturing mom again and it has brought her peace and calm.

I bought this and one other cat for my mother who misses her pet cat terribly. Mom has Parkinson's and mild dementia. She loves these cats. She keeps them with her, grooms them, and sleeps with them holding on to them all night. They bring her so much comfort.

Siamese Kitten for People with Alzheimer's and Caregivers

We had a Siamese cat many years ago. My wife loves stuffed animals snd asked me if I could get her a stuffed Siamese. The one at Memorable Pets was the highest quality one I could find and when it arrived it did not disappoint. We think it is fabulous that these pets are being used with dementia patients but they are also great for those who love stuffed pets and simply want the best.

Cocker Spaniel for People with Alzheimer's and Caregivers

Bettina, Mom will only carry and attach to the dog we order from you. She is in year 5 of the dementia floor and carries this dog all day everyday and is hysterical if separated from it. As you can imagine, it gets fed and messed up daily so we rotate them out of her arms to the bathroom for a few seconds to be "washed" and replaced instantly with a clean one and take the rest home to wash in the machine which when washed and dried they come out beautifully new. However there is a point which we need to reorder 5 more and I was worried you wouldn't have the same one so relieved to find it. Please don't discontinue without telling me as I will buy a lifetime supply. This dog is her only source of constant comfort for some reason and it has changed everyone's life...nurses, family, friends and most of all mom!! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for creating these pets. We went through a fair number of alternates, even a cat, before finding your site and her childhood family Cocker Spaniel. All the best, Susanne, (her daughter) ........................................................................................................................................................ Hi Bettina, I found more pictures over the span of a few years all with her dog. Dog attended art class and a visit with moms sister who she did not recognize any longer and in her room at Haro Park Care Center in Vancouver BC. One picture shows her with your Calico cat and of course the Cocker Spaniel dog! These were happier moments but she has not been able to speak in years and now no longer recognizes us but she still loves her dog. Comfort peace and loving kindness is our goal. Thanks, Susanne

I was in Stuart, Florida to be with my mother as our family celebrated her 96th birthday. I had brought her the rag doll cat as a gift and she absolutely loved it. As soon as she saw it she began kissing it, petting it, and cuddled with it in a way that was so very heartwarming. After I returned back to Denver I got a call from my sister who said we were having a problem with the cat. Apparently my mother was concerned that the cat was not eating! Such is the life of a 96 year old.

I bought this doll for my patients with dementia. This doll does wonders for calming them down when they are agitated. The women I care for immediately hold and swaddle the baby as though it is real. It’s so nice to use something as a baby doll as therapy to calm a dementia patient vs medication.

My mum loves her Tabby cat to bits. She is housebound and has always had real cats so to have tabby who is so real living with her is a joy. This is one of the best companions she could have. Tabitha which is what she has named her cat now brings her so much joy its lovely to with mum interact with her.

In looking after my 95 yr old mother with dementia, the limitations in her speech and cognition, means I have had to learn how to communicate in a way she may understand. On reading that one emotion that remains in dementia, is the need to love,be loved and nurture. Since discovering this therapy doll, I have seen my mother more smiley and animated ,as the loving and nurturing is alive and well.

Bichon Puppy for People with Alzheimer's and Caregivers

I bought the lifelike Bichon for my friend that has Alzhiemers. She has many days when she cries. I took the puppy to her and we named it "Jacks". She holds him often and the caregivers said she enjoys him. She loves how soft he is and told me she loves him. It is comforting to know that it's the little things that can make someones day.

Reborn Believable Babies - Baby Girl Jeana- Doll Therapy for People with Alzheimer's

I contacted Bettina to see if she had any babies ready to ship. She was able to push another order back (since it was not due for a couple of weeks) so I could buy that baby, which was ready. It shipped directly to my mother and within a couple of days she was holding Lisa2. Mom loves her new baby! Thank you, thank you, thank you...this is so precious. She has a little inexpensive doll now, but she's asking questions about it not moving too much...she thinks that her baby is sick. This new Baby Girl is so wonderful for her...shucks...I might want one when I see hers! You are the best to do this so quickly for us.

The mrmorable calico kitty was the best thing I could have ever gotten for my mom. It comforted her. She thought it was real a lot of the time and that was just fine. I made an incredible difference in the quality of her life. She had "kitty" for a year and a half before she died.

One day recently one of our new residents was agitated and upset. Our family care home’s supervisor and caregiver placed the robotic orange tabby (that we purchased through Memorable Pets) in her lap and she calmed immediately. She has been in love with this cat ever since. Thank you for all you do!

Baby Girl "Ava Rose"- Doll Therapy for People with Alzheimer's and Caregivers

My Beautiful Mum with her new baby She absolutely adores her. She has had her name changed to Rosemary though. As soon as mum saw her and realized it was hers she cried it was so Beautiful to see my mum so loving like this! Mum got diagnosed with Dementia earlier this year and she has been loving the Nursing Homes Baby's so much, that I decided she should have one of her own. She always wants to take the facilities babies to her room and settle them for a sleep so I knew she needed her own 24/7. The baby is absolutely perfect Thank you very much Amazing I highly recommend them for Dementia patients it brings out a beautiful side in them. .......................................................................................................................................................... Hi Bettina, Just a quick note Mum is ill at the moment she has been hospitalised for the last week and Dad asked her if she needs anything brought to the hospital for her and she asked for Rosemary her baby! So everyone says to us she doesn't remember anything new WELL IVE GOT NEWS FOR THEM! She remembers her beautiful baby and she's asking for her to be taken to the hospital! So it was absolutely beautiful when mum remembered Rosemary her new baby, now Mum is happy to be in Hospital with her baby. Her baby has settled her well even in a strange location as a hospital that she's never been to before. Kind Regards Mandy

I purchased Annie doll in January 2016 and waited until I thought timing seemed good. This video shows when I introduced the doll to my mom in June that year. They have interacted almost every day since that time. I wrap the doll in a swaddle just like a real baby and we take turns holding her. Taking care of children came naturally to Kathleen. She was the oldest of ten, had a sister named Annie, and had five children of her own. Kathleen moved to a Memory community several months ago. Some residents ask to hold the baby. Some give her kisses. Others think the doll looks so real. Somehow everyone is respectful and enjoy their smiles shared with my mom and her little baby Annie.

Pet Shop Kit with 3 Memorable Pets for People with Alzheimer's and Memory Care Activity Areas

My extended family and I decided to adopt and deliver 16 Believable Babies and 12 Memorable Pets (with pet shop accessories), as our family Christmas giving project to our local Alzheimer's and Memory Care facility. It was the best Christmas ever! I raised about $2000 for the adoptions and I worked with Bettina at Memorable Pets to make it a reality. In the past we had given money to organizations, but this idea was one we could really participate in and show the love of Christ and Christmas. I was so pleased, I created a website called "Betty's Babies" in memory of my grandmother who had Alzheimer's disease. Her name was Betty and she went to heaven in 2010. I know she would be very happy to see what we have accomplished! Also, our inspiring delivery video is on You Tube at (cut and paste into browser): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XMMOCG8N3cY&t=41s . We will continue on with many more adoption deliveries for those with dementia. To visit our site go to : www.bettysbabiesforalz.com . We are in process of becoming a 501c3 organization.

Talking Baby Unisex Doll "Lindy" - Doll Therapy for People with Alzheimer's and Caregivers

It was Christmas Eve 2016, and I was in desperate need of a Madame Alexander "Babble Baby" for my daughter. Our family was planning to go on a trip and that was going to be it... no presents, just our wonderful trip. Unfortunately, we had to cancel the trip at the last minute because of some extended family issues. My husband and I had to pull together Christmas for our two children at the last minute. I had searched everywhere for this doll with no luck... everyone was out of them. I reached out to Bettina at Believable Babies because she was located in our state of Kentucky. She happen to have one left and agreed to sell it to me! My husband and I drove to meet Bettina at a restaurant, where she and her family were having dinner. She was going to bring the doll and we would bring the cash. It took us about 45 minutes to get to the restaurant. We met, made the exchange and wished each other a Merry Christmas! My daughter was so happy the next morning. She had been wanting this kind of baby doll for a long time. I am grateful for Bettina going out of her way on Christmas eve to help us. Kristen

Thank you so much! The baby doll "Beth" was even more than I ever expected, and my 89 year old mother immediately fell in love with her! I cannot thank enough. I will continue to refer you to everyone, as I work at a hospital on a neurological floor, and my mother is in a dementia unit. Sincerely, Beth (the real daughter)
