I placed an order and was asked to stipulate the order delivery date and time. I picked a time slot and was surprised when the item was delivered earlier. It turned out not to be a problem for me as there was someone around to receive the delivery on the earlier date/time. However, this may pose an issue to other customers who can only receive their deliveries at the exact date and time slot specified.
Moving on to the proteins. I was keen on the mango, teh tarik and matcha. I emailed to ask if I could try samples before buying the 1KG (smallest) size but was told there are no samples. It would be a good business practice, as a small business, to offer samples or smaller sizes prior to purchase, as not everyone wants to commit to buying a 1KG pack.
Matcha whey - This was the most disappointing. I read somewhere that someone found this to taste like a Matcha Latte and thus had high hopes for it. I blended 2 scoops of LushProtein with 4oz milk and 4oz water. However, I found this to be quite clumpy when blended with my blender bottle. It smells great in the pack but is extremely bland and I could hardly taste the matcha. When drinking the shake, you get a mild grassy flavour but no matcha. I would rate this 1 out of 5 stars. I have no idea how I'm going to force myself to finish the rest of the 1KG pack.
Mango whey - This was the next one I tried and it was the total opposite of the Matcha whey. The Mango whey was totally delicious and blended well. The taste was moderate - not too strong and sweet, but also not to mild and tasteless (like the matcha). It blended great with 4oz water and 4oz milk. My Mango whey 1KG pack has quickly depleted as I enjoy this so much and reach for it constantly. I would rate this 5 out of 5 stars and would repurchase after I finish.
Teh Tarik whey - This was also quite disappointing. It doesn't smell or taste like teh tarik. It blended well with 4oz water and 4oz milk. However, when drinking it, it just tasted like a sweet protein shake with an indiscernible flavour profile. It has no teh tarik taste at all. I would rate this 2 out of 5 stars and would not repurchase after I finish. I'm also not sure how I would finish the 1KG pack I bought.
Lastly, packaging leaves much to be desired. It's quite hard to administer the scoops out of those flimsy ziploc bags. It's also quite hard to close the ziploc bags particularly when small bits of protein powder are stuck within the zips. It would be much better if the protein is sold in jars like other brands' protein powder.
This may be useful for other customers who are looking to make a purchase from LushProtein for the first time - my usual protein brand is Optimum Nutrition and the flavours I enjoy are Mocha Cappuccino, Cookies & Cream, Banana Cream, and Strawberry.
LushProtein's Mango Whey rates up there with the ON flavours I enjoy, but the Matcha and Teh Tarik Whey are nowhere close to anything that ON manufactures.
