Permatex Spray-A-Gasket High Tack 113g
Great product.
Just a tip, spray both sides of the paper or cork gasket just before you are ready to mate the surfaces back together. Make sure both surfaces are spotless and free of any oil etc.Do this outside on something clean. I used a BBQ teflon sheet and wear gloves as this stuff is sticky and hard to clean off, so be prepared.
Put the gasket in place and then line it up with with a couple of bolts and finger tight down. This product is great for keeping the gasket in place and as a sealing agent. Please torque down to correct specs and you'll never have a leak again. My mum's Tarago had a transmission pan leak, nothing bad, but it leaked a spot every day or so. This was 'fixed' at a local mechanic and the wetness reappeared. I checked it out and found some bolts not torqued properly. The excuse was that the subframe was in the way. Refund given. It then went to a dealer. I told them about my concerns about bolts not evenly torqued. They promised to do it correctly. I looked at the job and found they actually used a silicone on the new gasket and within a week it was 'wet', but no drip. Still trying to get a refund from them. I then got a new $30 gasket from Repco and ordered Permatex from Automegastore (really the only place you can get it) less than two hours later done. That was a couple of months ago. Perfect seal with no wetness anywhere. From my experience if you want a gasket job done correctly do it yourself and use Permatex.
