Works a little differently than I expected but does its intended job perfectly. I put the bar up while gathering eggs and at around 10:00 each night, "pop" it comes back down freeing me from rising with the chickens and manually lowering it. Installation was easy, the instructions even told you what tools you need. I LOVE my Best Nest Boxes, and this is a labor-saving addition.

Construction of the egg box deserves a 5. It is well made, easy to assemble, and solid. I can’t review its functionality yet as it is too cold to open up one side of my coop to install it. I have a concern about the open area under the collection side. I don’t like that it leaves a giant hole in the side of my coop allowing cold air to flow in. I plan to put a plywood “shelf” underneath to block it. I will make it so I can remove it for cleaning. I haven’t seen any other comments about this so maybe it is just me. I do hope the chickens learn to use it

However, we got so much more: Not only are we getting all the eggs, they’re super clean, the perch popper keeps the chickens out at night, and we’re now able to get them from outside of our chicken tractor. It’s been more than two weeks since I installed the nest box on my coop, replacing our old egg box that had deteriorated. This is a similar size and installed in the same place in their coop, but they won’t use it. I even tried moving the flaps out of the way to make sure they understand they can go in there. But it’s a big nope. We have gotten a few eggs - laid on the floor of the coop because they want nothing to do with this nest box.

Honestly the box is beautiful. I love the construction and everything about it except my chickens won’t use it. I’ve tried various things to encourage use but they have stopped laying since it was introduced. Nothing at all. No idea why.

Well designed, instructions were fine, rubber eggs required to make it or any other nest box work well. I subject the chickens to 18 hrs of light daily and feed 21 grams of protein pellets.

My fault for not checking but this door is much smaller than expected. Doesn’t fit on any of my coops even with retrofitting. Customer service took a few days to get back to me and then were going to take a relatively large chunk out for me to send it back. In the end I decided to sell it on Facebook so I didn’t lose money on it. Also realize the return window is only 30 days. It was almost too late when we got to attempting to install it anyways.

I am sorry to hear the door was too small for your coop. As you stated, the dimensions are listed on the ChickenGuard product page.
We do accept returns of new and unused items within 30 days of purchase. It is the delivery charges that are non refundable.
Regarding our customer service getting back to you, because we pride ourselves in our prompt response, we looked into the history of our communications. You reached out on the Friday evening after Thanksgiving and we responded the following Monday morning (the next business day).
