Large Reversible Rollaway Nest Box
My ladies took a little coaxing at first to get in and use the box. The secret was taping open one section of curtain, sprinkling a few shavings on the mat (that’s what was in their old nest boxes) and placing a few ceramic eggs in there. Just a few days later they were using it and we were able to drop the curtain and remove the ceramic eggs!

Box came well packaged, easy to assemble. Now if I could just get my girls to lay in it. I’ve tried all the suggested tricks and I only have about 6 of 30 who will lay in the box. For some reason they do not care to be communal.

Love it, except for I use it so the eggs come out the back. I have it stuck through my coop so the eggs drop on the outside, so I dont have to go into my coop. I wish there was something I could put, to stop the outside cool winter air coming into my coop.

Hello Brent,
You can insulate the bottom of your egg tray. If frozen eggs is an issue in your part of the country, add heat tape or a heated seed mat to the bottom of the egg tray. https://bestnestbox.com/blogs/news/no-frozen-eggs

I love this box, got some ceramic eggs to train the chickens to use it to lay their eggs and close the roost box after 3pm to avoid having chickens use it as a litter box. Overall a great product and if I make another chicshaw I will be buying more boxes from bestnext box. Would highly recommend to anyone who is thinking about buying

As a new farmer I could not justify the initial cost of the best box. However after raising birds for a few years. We had issues with chickens eating there own eggs. The box arrived quickly and seems very high quality - was quite easy for me and my 2 kids to put it together. But the trouble is getting the hens to use it. We've followed your suggestions... placed on the floor of coop right next to the ramp that goes outside where they like to lay, put in straw and fake eggs, raised half the curtain, and put the hens in there ourselves when we find them in the usual nest spot (sometimes over and over again!). Occasionally they will lay in there but usually it's only if we have put them in. Suggestions?

The assembly was easy and took about 30 minutes. Our chickens didn't care for it at first after having a 10 hole box. Eggs are cleaner so less time cleaning eggs.
