In the past I've only ever bought new sovereigns from the Royal Mint as I assumed that dealing directly with the manufacturer had to be the cheapest option. The Mint was recently out of stock so for the first time I tried Chard's who had stock. Not only did I find the buying process simpler (no clumsy pre-funding of the account) but Chard's website turned out to be more informative and more business-like than that of the Mint (none of their latest irritating pop-ups), and "In stock" does not mean awaiting stock as it can sometimes do on the Mint's site. Shipping was just as fast even as things are at present, and the total cost was lower to boot. So far, then, I'm a convert.
