Our 16-1/2lb turkey (from Vermont, not Maine!) was perfectly packed and delivered as promised. Four days thawing in the fridge, it was ready to rub with sugar&salt, squirted with garlicky herby butter, and lowered gently into a turkey fryer. One hour later, she was lifted free and left to rest.
Perfectly cooked with crispy skin, the meat was juicy tender and flavorful. Leftovers have become soup and sandwiches. Couldn't have asked for better.

So simple…salt and pepper the skin, slide a bit of butter under the skin, set a thermometer in the thigh and pop it in the oven. I tucked carrots and turnips in the bottom of the roasting pan, and used the V rack for the chicken, so dinner was a one pan deal. Pulled the bird at 160* (thigh temp) and it was perfect. Half of the bird fed three adults, and we had leftovers all week. Yum
