I have used Jaikoz for years however, this version saves to artist folders by default. The folder I load does NOT include folders, just the songs. I can’t figure out how to save back to my original file without Jaikoz creating and placing my song files into artist folders. YOUR HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED. Thanks

I am forced to use an older version of the program- 12.3 as the most recent update- 12.4 does not work properly. It says I don't have permission to update the pertinent files, despite the fact that all other file modification programs/taggers, including the 12.3 version work perfectly.

Honestly, I found it overly complicated for something that should be simple—just clean up tags, rename files, and apply metadata accurately. Instead, I felt like I had to decode its logic, tweak settings constantly, and still double-check everything to make sure it wasn’t applying incorrect info. That kind of defeats the purpose of automation, right? Great for automation, but manual verification is still needed.

For most users, starting with SongKong's default settings and disabling the preview should work fine. However, we provide additional options to cater to diverse user needs.
Firstly, while SongKong serves as a tagger, it's important to consider that different music applications—such as iTunes, Roon, and MinimServer—have varying and sometimes conflicting tagging requirements. Customizing settings in SongKong allows you to tailor metadata to ensure compatibility with your preferred music players.
Secondly, we recognize that users have unique preferences. For example, if you enjoy music from Russian artists, you might prefer their names displayed in Cyrillic script. Conversely, if you're not familiar with Cyrillic, you might opt for the English transliteration. This is why we offer the 'Romanize non-Latin script artist names whenever possible' option—to accommodate such preferences.
You mentioned feeling the need to double-check things. I'm interested to know if this stems from an initial unfamiliarity with the different options, or if it's an ongoing concern. Additionally, are you finding that the metadata is incorrect—for instance, matches to the wrong album—or is it simply not to your liking, such as featured artists appearing in the artist field instead of the title field?

I did a LOT of research and actually bought a couple other tools before deciding to spend much more on SongKong. It’s definitely the most powerful tool out there but the learning curve is WAY too much. I spent several hours going through the tutorials and doing tests and still can’t get it to fix the basic issues with my (very messed up) Music Library.
I needs a default configuration that solves most issues by default, more “turn-key”.
Probably the next step is to add an AI layer that can either ask the right questions, or auto-scan the Music Library and auto-config SK to do the job.

Hi Todd,. thanks for the review. So the defaults do work for most people but everyone is different, wre dont have an AI layer but we do have a real person (me) happy to help you on the forum if yo copuld explain what the issues are on the forum will glady help you.

The further development of Jaikoz is strongly neglected compared to SongKong.
For example, the download and insertion of front and back cover is missing when both covers are available on Music Brainz.
Second example, if you sort a column e.g. Title and then drag & drop a FrontCover into the Artwork column, the sorting of the Title column is lost.
If I'm not mistaken, many change requests are listed in the issues list, which you maintain yourself. I saw that 0 of the issues are in progress and 446 need to be completed.

Devlopment over the last two years has been a slow as we concentrated on SongKong but Janaury 2025 we release a major new version Jaikoz 12 and more to come. The issue list is down to 362 as of January 21st 2025, we dont use inprogress field we just close the issue when completed, hardly any software currently supports downloading back covers but that is planned for Jaikoz,

I recently purchased the SongKong application, and I’m quite impressed. In the past, I’ve experimented with various programs to organize my classical music collection, which consists of tens of thousands of MP3 files. Paul’s guidelines convinced me that this was the right path to take. So far, my experience has been pleasant, and the program is useful and user-friendly. I’ve also occasionally used Jaikoz, which I find equally satisfactory.
I don’t own high-end HiFi equipment. My music listening needs are simple: I want to be able to search and play music in different rooms of my house or while I’m on the go (in hotels or at friends’ places). From what I’ve gathered, the MinimServer and UPnP control point music browsers aren’t particularly suitable for my needs. Instead, I’ve currently set up a Navidrome server on my NAS and installed the Symfonium app on my phone and tablet.

I have about 500 cd’s ripped and stored on a synology nas from which I stream. Most of my metadata was missing/incorrect, and browsing/searching the collection was very unsatisfying. Songkong (web interface) has been invaluable in getting all my metadata fixed. I’m still using the default profiles and haven’t explored all functionality, and there are some minor changes I’d like in the interface, but the investment was completely worth it.

All my issues were resolved with v 11.1 Absolutely. I can't believe this, but the devs followed up on my issue. best CS i have seen from a software company in 20 years. I will be a loyal customer just for that reason alone.
