Our girl, Bella, a Rottweiler recently had a four-year-in-the-making planned litter of beautiful healthy puppies. My strategy is simple. I've been feeding Cooper raw for almost a year now. He gets small whole prey animals, completely ground up bones and all (exclusive of fur, feathers and intestines...) He also is fed the larger ungulates (no dense leg bones, hide or intestines though he does get some tripe) also all completely ground. I was worrying that over time he might not be getting all the trace elements (especially manganese, iodine, selenium) because of what was being left out (the fur, hides, sometimes thyroid, etc) and what the prey animal itself might be lacking due to possible nutrient deficiencies in its own diet so... I decided to hedge my bets and include one third of his calories as a AAFCO approved kibble. This would ensure that in some worse case scenario he wouldn't be lacking in nutritional mineral balance or be devoid of some trace element. However I didn't want to dilute the high quality or concentrated levels of protein already inherent in his raw meat diet and thus lose the benefits I was seeking, so I've used Ketona to serve the purpose of a high quality protein, ultra low-carb kibble that satisfies the AAFCO standard for complete and balanced. By the way, I do rotated his prey species source every couple of days (some examples being rabbit, beaver, muskrat, chicken, turkey, lamb, goat, alpaca, beef, pork, bison, and many species of whole fish... all frozen to -20F for at least a month to destroy any parasites). This gives me peace of mind that Cooper is getting everything his body needs to be the best his DNA will allow. He is strong (very muscular for a Golden), fit, and robust. I think I'm doing this right thanks to Ketona.

We had been searching for a food that would work for a 14 yr old blind/diabetic, an overweight 1 yr old chihuahua mix, and a 10 month healthy weight chihuahua mix. Waited for a formula w/o chicken and low carb. Stella is extremely allergic to chicken and gets horrible seeping bumps all over her back and over produces yeast, hence the low carb requirement. I always switch slowly so she is still getting other food besides Ketonatural, but her bumps have decreased. I am concerned that the fish formula is processed on the same equipment as the chicken formula, which would be detrimental to her bumps. I am concerned about the sodium content, she tends to want to drink a lot more water . . . I have tried many kibble formulas and this is the only one where she has drank so much water. Her coat is soft, it was coarse feeling and she is shedding much less.

I've been feeding Cooper the best food...or so I thought. After researching foods online, I stumbled across Ketonatural....with very low carbs!! After one week on this food, Cooper seemed happier, wanted to walk more, stopped itchy/scratchy, his breath wasn't so stinky...just better overall look.
