Always good for the bigger fish

These boots are a disappointment. I had them for 6 1/2 years and they were well looked after - never left in the sun or left wet. They have perished and now leak despite only been worn for around a week each month and only for a few hours. It’s my second pair and this happened both times.

My opinion is based on having used/experience the build quality of numerous different Penn Overhead Reels through the 80's to today.
Learning to beachcast with Penn Surfmaster 200's & Jigmaster 500's and the various iteration of the 525's released over the decades.
I purchased the 15CS because I wanted to phase out using at least 1 of my olde 525 MkI Mags (mid 1990's), which are all still going strong! (notably ALL reels referenced are made in USA)
The Penn 15CS (Dec 2025) showed issues with the Casting Lever Mechanism being 'waggly/loose" from first day of actual use (Trip cut short and Reel returned THAT day).
The Reel has been subsequently returned again for the same issue and received back again (ie: 2 attempts to resolve)
The same issue still persists although minorly reduced from when first noticed.
IMO, a 10-year reel warranty means nought when a reel designed for casting, shows issue/fault with a primary mechanism which will get continuous and repeated use for every cast!

Love it. A great feel in the rod and it works the jigs really well. The reel is awesome. A lovely feel through the handle, which sits nicely in the palm. Feels like it has the grunt to handle a really large fish. So it just builds confidence.

I recently used the JW rubber landing net to land a nice snapper in the Keneperu sound, it was easy to use, loved the extending handle which retracts nicely to stow away. Great purchase thanx.
