Recommended to try these for early morning winter rides - and they worked. I don't normally feel cold in the feet however ambient temps of 2 degrees made my feet cold on rides and they wouldn't heat up. On trying these socks, my feet stayed warm! They are more bulky around the foot however I had no issue fitting into mountain bike shoes. Once riding - I forgot I had them on. Excellent socks.
