Very happy with my Lowrance Eagle 5. Had the privilege rigging this unit in front of my tinny poti Marara with no problems. For fishing around Atiu/Cook Islands đšđ°. I honestly don't see the need for a big expensive GPS unit. Our waters drop off very deep once you get close to the reef, so for me the main thing is having a reliable GPS, knowing my position, saving my waypoints and finding my way home safely, especially when heavy rain comes down and visibility gets poor. The Eagle 5 does everything I need, and the screen is more than enough for our conditions. One thing I highly recommend is getting the Navionics+ Pacific Islands chart SD card when purchasing the unit. It gives you much better chart coverage for our part of the Pacific. Simple, reliable and does the job perfectly for fishing around our islands.
