We were so excited to find an option for our second graders that focused on our 50 states. Seems a great starting point for this age group. However this textbook falls flatter than a pancake in substance. Forgive me as a jump around between complaints.

There are many overly detailed stories of random uninteresting successful people. Lesson 38 is great example of this where it spends 3 pages discussing a contemporary peanut farmer and his family. I feel these stories would have been best left as a bonus PDF or at the very least, reduced. Our children were so excited to cover Pennsylvania & Pittsburgh because thats where my husband is from. Steel was hardly covered. The Steelers were never mentioned. Lastly, this textbook hardly includes any black figures. We have reached lesson 25 as a group (although I have looked ahead). We had to completely skip page 99 due to an awkward story of a boy named James who learned to smile and laugh in the midst of slavery even though he knew SOMETIMES ensalved people on other plantations got whipped. This page and a half a seemingly fictional story could have better been dedicated to Harriet Tubman who just a page before received literally four sentences about her life’s work. Meanwhile there’s an entire page plus art about a boy who flew a kite across the Niagara River. Between lesson 1 and 25 there are a number of art pieces covered- zero by non-white artist.

All of the supplementary work I have had to compile to bolster this textbook is a shame.

The Atlas Workbook however, is lovely.

I am enjoying this curriculum. It is a well rounded start to our day. I love that God is included in the history.

This curriculum is amazing, my son went from struggling in history to thriving and enjoying it. I wish they made curriculum and every subject! It’s extremely easy to follow and stay on track independently.

My only regret is not buying this sooner

This curriculum has been a life saver for history for our family! It is so beautifully laid out, and easy to follow. My 5th grader loves having the ability to choose from the activities at the end of each lesson. We are excited to have found Notgrass and it has genuinely blessed our family.

I absolutely love this history curriculum. I’ve tried out several different homeschool curriculums and this is by far our favorite. My kids actually enjoy reading the textbook together and doing the workbook, and I feel like I’m even learning a lot of new information. This curriculum has been a huge blessing for our family!

Notgrass was very quick to send a new book when the first one was misprinted. Thank you for correcting the mistake at no charge to me.

The curriculum follows a very easy to understand timeline and provides BEAUTIFUL pictures and activities for each lesson. Nothing is overkill and everything builds upon the last lesson. It makes sense and is a breath of fresh air. The books which come with it make EXCELLENT accompaniments to the learning. We LOVE Notgrass!!!

I love how each lesson ends with reflecting on God’s Word that’s applicable to that lesson. Notgrass does an amazing job of sharing His story through this curriculum.

In our World Geography course book 1, there were a couple of lessons that were printed twice. I checked with the FB group to see if abyone had that problem and they did not. I reached out to Notgrass company and was sent a new book 1to replace the wrong one. They did it quickly, WTH no problems at all. It arrived in a couple of days so we could continue with our lessons. Thanks for the quick service!

We absolutely love the Notgrass Star-Spangled curriculum! It’s perfect for my 4th grader. She finds it interesting, easy to grasp, and loved the pictures and activities. Excellent product!

We’re loving Out Star Spangled Story. The workbook is perfect for my 7 yo daughter to do without feeling bogged down by it which is perfect because I want her focused on her interest in the stories not how much she hates work. The lessons are long enough to get information across without dragging on forever and the way it’s written helps keep my kids interested. I got a second workbook for my 4 yo and he can do most of the pages and he’s happy to be able to follow along. He is obviously a bit young so he sometimes checks out at the end of the lessons but he’s learning a surprising amount. The pictures are perfect for helping keep them engaged without taking over the lesson and they give the kids something to draw in their illustrative journals. I’m trying to think of something I would change but I’m struggling to come up with anything. It would be neat have them available as documentary/cartoon video episodes!

I’m loving our History curriculum. The work pages are fun for my child and the books are so colorful. Super thrilled about using Notgrass this year.

We switched our history curriculum this year based on a friend’s recommendation and couldn’t be happier! We’re using Our 50 States as well as World Geography. Each set of books fits my children’s’ learning styles and interest. Four thumbs up from them!
