I got my rentals in town and have to use the shuttle to get there. Almost had to exchange boots because the merino socks hubby gave me were too thick. These worked perfect and better, I had cold feet with the merino. Not with these and they look so cute and long enough to keep out of the boots. No bunching!

i wear alot of wool socks, specifically Darn Tough ones which are great, but they tend to fit real tight and are on the thick side even with their ultralight models. these Paka socks fit just right and are the perfect thickness for everyday use. you can also wear these socks for weeks on end if you choose. after a few days of wearing them without taking them off they get slightly smelly, but if you take them off and let them air out for a night they go back to smelling clean.

The jacket is warm. I wore it on a cold day with nothing underneath. It was about 30F with wind. I actually started to sweat. My only complaints are the sleeves are too narrow. I had difficulty getting my gloves to fit under the sleeve. The hand sleeve was too tight around my thumb. I didn’t bother to use. The hood was difficult to adjust to make it fit my head while wearing a ball cap. The jacket is advertised as water proof. Actually, it is water resistant. The jacket is promoted as from Peru. The alpaca is from Peru but the jacket was made in China.

I was surprised at the softness of the Alpaca fur or is it hair? The fit was longer at the waist than expected. I like that. However, I thought the sleeves could be about an inch or two longer. Also, the fit should be closer to the neck for added wind protection. When the hoodie arrived, the weather was 35F with wind. I stood outside with just the hoodie. I felt warm. Some wind did get thru. Before testing I needed to wash it.
After hand washing, comparing to my 50/50 Duck Worth wool shirt, the Alpaca held on to the water. It took time to wring out the water and squeeze it dry by rolling the hoodie in a towel. I dried the hoodie in the furnace room which is typically warm because of the heat generated from the furnace. The hoodie was still damp after an over night of drying. The wool was much dryer. Despite that, I wore the Alpaca slightly damp with the wool underneath. I went for a morning walk of 40F. I felt warm. After a mile or so, the hoodie was dry from my body heat. Overall, I like it. But, I need to test it more. I am concerned about it getting wet while hiking and drying time.
