I wanted to create some low, wide (250mm) and long (>2.5m) shelves in my penthouse apartment on which I could store / display my road bikes more effectively. I looked online (wood merchants, shelving producers etc.) for wooden / MDF shelving. Unfortunately anything meeting these dimensions tends to be considered a non-standard width meaning boards need to be individually cut. This drives up the price exponentially: For 2 'shelves' I was being quoted >£150 + £50-80 delivery charges. I then found the Skirting World website that makes 'standard' skirting boards up to 4m in length and 440mm in width.
Not only that but I chose a grooved board that fits my bicycles' tyres perfectly!
Total price including two 3m x 250mm primed mdf board, glue and delivery was £54! The boards were delivered within 3-4 days.
I'm absolutely delighted with the end result - it's way better than even I expected.
I recommend that Skirting World expands its product range to include 'shelving' in future...!

Some of the skirting boards were damaged when I unwrapped the packaging. This was because I was not due to install the skirting for another two weeks due to refurbishment work and therefore I left the packaging on to protect them from dust and dirt. The policy to check and report any damage within 24 hours needs to be extended.

Looks very neat and quality is excellent. My only issue was that it didn't quite cover my 70mm skirting, and upon measuring it, I found that the rebate was only cut to 67mm. As I was always going to have a 2-3mm gap, the extra 3mm made this unacceptable. By this time I had already cut it to various lengths and I needed to get on with the job so I decided not to return it but instead to cut out the extra 3mm or so myself. This turned out to be a much longer job than I expected so with hindsight I wish I'd raised the issue and waited for replacements.
Great product but check the measurements first - I did check but at the time of delivery carpets were still in place so the small discrepancy wasn't evident until later.
