These strings are great! To me, they feel and sound similar to elixirs, but obviously not coated, which isn't a bad thing. These are the best bass strings I've ever installed on my P-bass. Because Stringjoy lets you pick your own gauges, it's possible to get a set that's incredibly even. Unlike every other string set on the market, where the D string is too tight and the E string is loose and floppy.
I emailed Scott before I ordered strings, because I wanted to make sure I got my string tension right. Because it'll be different depending on string composition etc. These strings are nickel plated steel, if you want to calculate your own string tensions via stringtensionpro or other online calculators. Scott suggested that my "even tension" set (45 60 80 110) might be louder in the E string, but that's what pickup height adjustment is for. If it's louder, it's not something I know how to detect. And having a set where all the strings are about the same tension feels FANTASTIC.

Stringjoy 1.14mm Grape Tri-Tip Picks - 10 pack
These tri-tip picks are the perfect shape. Whatever this plastic is, it's the perfect material, because it is a little tacky when you're holding it, and it gets a little traction on the string when playing, not to the point of excessive pick noise, but just so you get a very slight resistance to your picking motion that lets you know you're playing a note. Also, this thickness turned out to be better for me than the 1.0mm, because an old guitar teacher convinced me years ago that a stiffer pick can be held lightly, but a thinner pick cannot be any stronger than it is. I've got a pack of the 1.0mm, and I love them too, but the 1.14 is where it's at for me. I've tried 1.5 and beyond, but at that point you totally lose the resilience of the pick. So, there it is.

Received the strings very quickly. Noticed that you don't have to stretch them as they stay in tune almost immediately. I was using Elixirs on one of my Taylor guitars that were a bit too bright for me. These strings have a warm well-balanced tone. So far I'm liking them a lot.
