Stay clear of this company if you possibly can. They will rip you off and blatantly refuse to put things right. Attracted by their "free" service I made a very small edit to one document, but then to save it costs a quid. I was in a hurry so I paid up. 7 days later, without warning £49.95 disappeared from my back account paid to PDFSmart. I immediately contacted them to cancel the subscription they had tricked me into. They could see I had used the software for one action only and contacted them as soon as I saw the money get paid out. They politely but unmovingly said that's what I had unwittingly signed up for and they would show no flexibility. 2 further emails later nothing had changed, so I am 50 quid I cannot afford out of pocket. My only hope is that I can warn others not to fall for their sharp practices. So you have been warned, please stay away from this disreputable company.

Bunch of Thief's hiding recurring charges I used once and they charged me £49.99 and even though I never used again they refused to refund

SCAM-Avoid - I signed up for what was presented as a 1-week pass for £1.00 on 6th August. On 13th August—Day 7 of the trial—my bank account was charged a non-consensual renewal fee of £49.99. There are critical issues with how this company operates:Misleading Interface (Dark Pattern): The checkout page gives the option to select "Limited Access, 1 Week" for £1.00. The fact that this automatically enrolls you into a recurring £49.99/month commitment is hidden in tiny, low-contrast text at the bottom. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, core financial terms must be prominent and transparent. Premature Billing: Their checkout text states that charges occur "After 7 days." the signup date is excluded from the calculation. Charging on Day 7 (13th August) rather than Day 8 (14th August) prematurely ended my trial and breached their own terms. Refusal to Honor Express Refund Policy: Their checkout screen explicitly advertises a "7 days refund guarantee." Despite requesting a refund on Day 7, customer support refused, directly contradicting what is promised on their payment page. Customer support flatly refuses to refund premature charges or honor their advertised guarantee. I have submitted all checkout screenshots, emails, and transaction logs to my bank to initiate a chargeback dispute, as well as reporting their practices to Citizens Advice / Trading Standards and the CMA. Avoid this platform unless you want unexpected fees and non-existent refund support.

I used PDFSmart to merge a few PDF files and paid what was presented as a £1 charge. This £1 turned out to be a hidden 7-day trial that auto-renewed at £49.99.

There was no reminder before the renewal, and no warning email. The recurring terms were in very small print on the checkout page and further buried in a terms of service PDF attached to the order confirmation, which is presumably PDF Smart's business model - hide as much information as you can from customers so you can bill them again without their explicit consent.

When I asked for a refund for the £49.99, I was told that the terms had been "disclosed at checkout" and that no refund would be issued.

One star, and only because zero is not an option.

Scam company, scammed £50 x 2 out of my account to edit one PDF doc and won’t refund it. Total disgrace and now I will be making sure I let everyone know about their scammy practices so they can’t steal any more money.

DO NOT USE--DO NOT GIVE CREDIT CARD INFO. they hide the additional charges, and if you don't notice that on your CC statement, they keep charging. Total scam, totally dishonest business. I would give them a zero rating if I could.

Do not use this service. They will subscribe you to a service without authorisation and charge £49 month with no chance of a refund. Terrible customer services with little or empathy or help. DO NOT USE

Total scam. Underhand system offering various packages eg 1 year unlimited access for $99 with the small print actually contradicting that. Forget the trials or the 1.99 offers - you will likely end up being charged 49.99 monthly. I'm shocked. And after several emails they will not refund

Scam website. Do NOT give them your CC information! They will quietly charge you $50 per month and then refuse to return it. I paid $101 for one pdf file to be compressed. I can't believe this is still happening in little niches on the internet. Sickening that google allows them to be included in searches.

Scam site beware!

I paid £1.99 for a one-off use of their tool, however, when PDFSmart emailed my receipt for this payment, there was an auto renewal clause buried in a terms and conditions attachment. The hidden auto renewal kicked in after 7 days and without any further notification from PDFSmart, I was charged a whopping £49.99. I emailed PDFSmart to complain and request a refund, but they were unsympathetic and refused. Strongly recommend avoiding!!!

Just a scam. After my £1 trial, which was a one-off payment, they started charging me £49.99 for 3 months until I realised what was happening, and I suspended a membership I hadn't signed up for.

It does not work. I tried to convert a pdf file to word but I would have had more chance deciphering the Dead Sea Scrolls than what PDFSmart produced. I gave it one star because there is not a zero star rating. I agree with Sumon a total con job set up with the sole purpose of taking £49.99 per month from the unwary. Don’t bother trialling anything but if you have check your mail and cancel your subscription immediately.

Although I remember the product working well when I used it last May, PDF Smart are notorious for operating a 'subscription trap'. They automatically enroll customers in to a £50 per month subscription, without customers realizing, after paying £1 to edit a PDF. This is what happened to me, costing me £500 altogether. I only had one email from them, thanking me for mt £1 payment, but they re-used my bank details to sign me up to a £50 per month subscription without my knowledge. They then took payments more frequently than monthly, getting earlier and earlier in the month each month. They have been a nightmare to deal with over email (can't find any phone contact number), brazenly insisting on their right to take money from my account. And more recently just not replying at all. My bank were well aware of the fraudulent and deceptive practices used by this company, describing them as 'the bane of their life'. They have helped me recover £200 so far. Oregon DOJ (where the company are based are also being very helpful). At this point the company still owes me £300 that they sneaked out of my account. Please see many further similar reviews on TrustPilot also. PDF Smart need to make some changes - they need to repay the money they took from me. They need to commit to inform customers in big text of their intention to sign them up to a £50 per month subscription, rather than sneaking it on them. They need to send reminder emails before taking each payment (like most other companies do).

Biggest scam ever. Was charged 150 for a subscription I did not approve, nor did I use. Professional scam artists here. Do not use this website if you don't want unauthorized purchases on your credit card.

Very sad this pdfsmart is fraud website and this company without my permission take out money my bank account £49.99 . I was not accepting this happen with me. Pdf smart don't give back my money.

Absolutely awful. Paid €1 for a one off use. Fraudulently charged me 49.99 a week later. Avoid. They’re scum.

This company provides the pdf services alright, but scam you once they have your credit card details, charging you £49.99 monthly until you notice your monthly card statement! The company advertises headline £1.00 or £1.99 unlimited use for one week or £8.99 monthly for one year unlimited use, but only in the small print do they mention that these are all trial periods after which they will take £49.99, and then keep taking £49.99 every four weeks. The £1.00 or £1.99 or £8.99 are all misleading, they will steal £49.99 monthly and refuse to refund it. This is the business model - to scam the unwary.
