The half marathon race was good up until the 10/11 mile mark when it merged with the 10k race, which was a disaster. As a faster runner I had to weave my way through slower paced 10k runners which increased the distance I ran, slowed me down and detracted from the finish as it was shared with lots of 10k runners. The race organisers should seriously consider having the 10k on a different route or not at all.

It felt like they took on too much whilst forgetting the experience for runners.

Fantastic day , but pity it was so sunny , although that was a bonus for the many spectators who cheered the runners on with music, sweets and great encouragement. It was such a friendly event and the course was great , with a few challenges thrown in such as the Itchen Bridge. Best event I've taken part in and wish I could run it again next week ! Roll on April 2018 !

Well organised, nice course apart from Itchen Bridge which nearly killed my off and then the uphill finish. Not very friendly in a Half. HOWEVER, the T-shirt at the end is a nice one and also the free alcohol **** was very welcome. Great support on the course....

Very hard course, but an incredible day.

Great course this year, allowed me to set a PB time. Good organisation before and after the race. The only improvement I would suggest is some form of time bandings at the start, as I found myself being held up by many slower runners for the first 2kms of the race.

Fabulous event and thoroughly enjoyed every minute. Extremely well organised and very professionally managed throughout. What a great advert for the city. What a shame BBC South didn't have much better coverage or even footage (I thought that was very very poor bearing in mind the numbers of people involved runners and spectators).
Keep up the great work and really looking forward to next year!

Race was well organised and extremely well supported. Definitely helped in those final few miles to get over the line.

I really enjoyed the whole day. I ran the 10km after two years of doing the Half. The 10km could be a bit more scenic and less convoluting at the start. The start line was too narrow. I enjoyed merging on the bridge with other events as this gave me a chance to cheer on friends that were doing the half or full marathon. Although when I crossed the finish line, a half marathon runner was complaining about the merging of events. We stayed on to cheer the half marathon runners at the finish area. Overall it was a great day and a great event for Southampton.

A great little event. I particularly liked the start. The fact that it was an hour ahead of the half and that it wasn't fenced off, making access easy and low key. I would like to have seen more energy drink stations though. The course was interesting and varied, but the second crossing of the Woolston Bridge and the hill from the park to the finish were a bit cruel.

Could've done with a water station about mile 10/11 as it was such a hot day. Also, no marshalls could tell us when next was one was, if at all.

A good, fun day. The course and race village were well laid out and signposted, and the atmosphere had a buzz!

Really enjoyed the race and very well organised, the support from the people of Southampton was amazing :-) The only criticism is running through St Mary's around about mile 10, there wasn't any atmosphere or fanfare that we were going through the ground. If possible next it would be fab if there was a music point before or after the Stadium? It might also help with the build up to Itchen Bridge! But a fab day and I will definitely be signing up again for next year. Well Done

There weren't any toilets that were easy to see. None of the staff on the day knew where they were either. The runs should have been staggered more and running the Itchen Bridge twice (especially at the end) was a little cruel.

The actual race was very enjoyable; loads of support and the route/marshals were all great! But there were a few issues with organisation before/after the race- I had been sent the incorrect race pack so had to collect it on the day...I queued at one tent for 15 minutes only to be told that they didn't have my number so to then queue again at a different tent to collect my pack. This took another 20 minutes and I missed our organisation's photo call as a result. Maybe they should have had some signs indicating which pack numbers were at which tent? I wasn't the only person queuing who was confused by this. Also, after finishing, there were no 10k t-shirts left. I was offered a 'couple of foil blankets' but it wasn't the same! I was fortunate enough to win a free place, however it was quite an expensive race to enter and- if I'd paid full price- I'd have been very disappointed to not get a t-shirt. I have subsequently contacted your team and had one posted out to me (apparently there was an issue with 10k tees getting mixed up with half/marathon ones?) and they were very helpful, but not everyone may think to do the same. There was a lady running with her disabled companion who finished just after me and they wouldn't have received a t-shirt either; it might have felt a bit like the first finishers were getting an extra 'reward', despite the fact that a lot of us slower runners worked bloomin' hard just to make it around the course. Finally (sorry!) when I had finished the run I just wanted somewhere to recuperate for 5 minutes, but the Guildhall Square was SO rammed full of people I could barely move anywhere; it took about 20 minutes just to find some space to just breathe and recover. I'm not the fittest person, granted, but maybe somewhere cordoned off for runners just to chill a bit before heading back out into the throng would be a nice idea. But I really enjoyed the event! These things were just niggles really.

I really enjoy this race and have now run it three times. What i love most is the support all around the course. Cheers and children to high five and tap the boards for power.
The other thing is the different terrain. The two parks that are very different then the roads with houses then an industrial bit and the stadium and then Itchen Bridge!!!. The bit by the river with the swans is also amazing. The tee shirt is amazing quality. The marshals are all very enthusiastic as are all the facilities. I will be back.
