A well organised event one of the most enjoyable half marathons I've done. Great support and organisation.

Very well organised. Track was laid out well and had plenty of marshells. Pre and post race village was well laid out and easy to navigate. Very pleased with the quality of the timing technology and the finishers pack. Thank you. I would definitely consider running again.

Really enjoyed the event, and really showed Southampton at it's best. Constructively, improvements could be made to the congestion over Itchen Bridge - faster runners were dodging rows of walkers 5 abreast. Just some extra marshalling telling walkers to stay left would solve it. And some better signage coming into the finish would have been welcome - 100m countdown signs in the last km would be great. Thanks!

Itchen bridge was awful, atmosphere was great though

Every year this event gets bigger and better. The new route was a massive improvement making the course much nicer, with enough challenges to keep it interesting. My only ****** was I'd have ljked more drink stations around the course, especially for the full marathon also only one set of loos on the course meant some careful timing. That said, these were minor issues andI will definitely be back again next year.

Great to have such a fab event so close to home! Pre day comms was good, adding to excitement. The mile makers made the event!
Would have been 5 stars but could have done with more water stations, particularly on such a hot day.

*Fantastic supporters!
*Great that we were give bottled water
*Instead of a water station at mile 5 & 7 consider moving one of these stations to mile 11.
*Mile marker were a little out of measure
* would have preferred an alternative drink instead of a non-alcoholic ****
* fantastic that gels were handed out in the route
*Over all a great race and well done to all
Marshalls who gave up their weekend to support us.

It was my first half marathon and I loved it. So thank you and well done!
I liked the route and have no issues with it as such. However, I did feel there were too many water stations early on and not enough later on. Also I was waiting for the nutrition station but when I got there I wasn't given anything. I couldn't see anything being given out? Also I think the Itchen Bridge needs water!
Also I think the first mile or two before the common is too narrow. With everyone so bunched up it made it harder, I was trying to over take but it was too dense.
I loved going through the common and riverside park. I also thought the finish line was great. Although there was no clock at the end? And maybe there could be finisher photos as you cross the line.
Thanks again.

The race was great. The track is beautiful and running through Southampton FC Stadium felt awesome!
The only issue was picking up the numbers. I was coming from Germany, and it wasn't really clear what I had to do to get my number.

I have already signed up for next year so it hasn't put me off going for my 4th marathon in 4 years. As a local it's really important for me that this event is a success and although it was your first marathon a few recommendations given my experience on other courses.
1. More tracking points for spectators to monitor the progress. My parents for example live away and love the virtual way they can monitor my progress. But they are quite away into the course.
2. Water stations. Riverside Park - Itchen Bridge!!! That's way too far and in that heat on Sunday is dangerous. If it wasn't for a resident giving out cups of her own water paremedics would've been a lot busier with dehydration.
3. A successful marathon is built on the competitors accounts. Like I said I am a local and knew of the hills , why sell it as a flat fast course?? Sell it as a tough challenge, the marathons of marathons for example but not flat and fast. Border line miss-selling . The course is what Southampton has to offer and what the City Council / Police can safely give so it is what it is.
Please don't think I am negative, it's really important to me and family this event grows and grows , I'm always promoting on social media.
See you all in 2018!!!!

Overall I really enjoyed the day. This was my third successive year running the half marathon. The route reversal and changes made it harder in my opinion with the bridge climb coming towards the end. The unexpected warmth of the sunshine also took its toll on many runners.
Bag drop in guildhall was better organised last year as the queues were slower and longer this year.
I will be back next year!

Very well organised, friendly marshalls and motivators and excellent pacing. Could do with a water station on the Itchen bridge! Would have enjoyed myself if I wasn't running 13.1 miles!!

Good run, well organised. Think the reverasal of the route wasn't brilliant - having the Itchen bridge at the end was really really tough compared with the prior two years.

Very well organised, the start is nice and close to the main rail station which was handy too. Tougher course than expected and a bit crowded at times but the crowd support was really good all the way round. The "Bridge" is at a very tough part of the half marathon route and a potential PB killer but satisfying to complete.

Excellently organised and well attended event! With plenty of water stops along the route (which was a god send as it was so hot!) The only things that niggled me were that I was unable to see the high5 stand at riverside park, (this may have been through feeling quite tunnel visioned at this point) so they could have done with standing out a bit more-assuming that I missed them by the water station!- and that the pacers were quite hard to pick out from distance as no flags to identify while running. Apart from these things I thoroughly enjoyed the run, although my legs are still saying otherwise! Many thanks for a fabulous event! See you again next year!!
