My family are about to be Chrismated, so as a new Orhlthodox homeschooling mother, I had no idea how to present a religious topic, and this book opens up wonderful discussion between me and my children (8 children, current ages 10-1). I am as excited to read through the book as they are, and it is an excellent guide on how to present the information in an easy-to-understand way.

very helpful with the recipes!

Amazing book. Still haven't finished, as I am savouring every page. Simple, clear, the wisdom of a true Elder.

This book is truly amazing. It is challenging, thought provoking, beautiful, exhausting, encouraging, enlightening and educational. It doesn't take long for you to understand just how much the author loves God and His Word. His love and enthusiasm for the Psalms is most memorable and his ability to share how deeply they ordered his life and his understanding of life with and in God especially through the lens of the Orthodox Church was engaging. Buried throughout are so many insights and explanations. At times the information was overwhelming especially to those who are new to chiastic poetry, or the concept of salvific psalms or psalmic poetics. There were times I felt I was reading a textbook for Psalms 201 without the benefit of having been taught Psalms 101 but this did not deter me from leaning into his careful instruction and deep explanations. Many thanks to the editor for including definitions, glossaries and a notes section. (I kept a bookmark in the notes section and read practically every explanatory note that was provided). I would recommend this for anyone looking for a thoughtful and deep perspective on reading the Psalms.

Father Armatas has simply explained how each of us can participate and discipline ourselves to practice the key tenets of our Orthodox faith. There are so many powerful self help aids contained in such a small book.
God bless you father for all the other resources you provide on your website to help make us better Orthodox Christian.

This is a gem of a book, practical, compact, and bursting with encouragement and sound teaching. Fr. Evan's firm yet gentle pastoral style is everywhere in these pages as he lays out the Scriptural and historical context for prayer, fasting, and almsgiving, the pillars of the Christian faith no one can be truly sanctified without. I wouldn't hesitate to offer this book to any serious Christian or to those exploring the Orthodox Church. All it lacks is a companion study guide!

Great jewelry box, large enough to fit a watch.

Excellent resource that every home should have. The Leathersoft cover is exceptional, far superior to hardcover, and more durable than bonded leather. This can be a lifetime Bible. I do miss the red letters and the Concordance. Also, I would be willing to sacrifice to a reduced font size for a bit more spacing to aid readability.

Excellent book. Easy reading.

I just completed reading “A Toolkit for Spiritual Growth” by Fr Evan Armatas and highly recommend it. This book focuses on the three spiritual disciplines of the Christian faith – Prayer, Fasting and Almsgiving (Charity). Fr Evan strikes a perfect balance between providing thoughtful insights into why Christians need and benefit from these disciplines with guidance on how to practically implement them within one’s own personal situation or reality.

“A Toolkit for Spiritual Growth” is easy to read and Fr Evan injects good humor and meaningful personal examples. Whether you consider yourself deeply engaged or exploring your faith, you will enjoy and learn much from this book.

Father Evan Armatas has provided a beautiful gift to all those seeking to develop a more intimate relationship with Christ through the Orthodox Church. In 'Toolkit for Spiritual Growth', Fr Evan describes the essential nature of prayer, almsgiving and fasting in the growth of any believer, and he accomplishes this in simple terms that are understandable by orthodox and non-orthodox alike. I highly recommend this book as a starting point for anyone wishing to understand the 'how and why' of these components of the three-legged stool of Christian praxis.

"Gratitude in Life's Trenches" is an outstanding exploration of one of the Church's least appreciated spiritual disciplines. We tend to think of gratitude as not constituting a discipline such as prayer or fasting. Yet, Robin Phillips shows gratitude to be more than a matter of mood, disposition or circumstance, but instead it is revealed as a God-given grace that we can cultivate in our own hearts through watchfulness, death to self and appreciation for God's salviific work in our lives.
This is a wonderful guide for Christians as we each grapple with how to bear our cross (or crosses) on this side of eternity.

It’s beautiful

Beautifully written, very readable!!

Excellent work! I have benefited a lot.

Simple, not easy, but simple and amazing.

Written compassionately and clearly. Dr. Rossi answers questions that sometimes we never knee we had. God bless him to write even more

The card was lovely The verse inside was appropriate. The only thing that bothered me was that the flowers looked as if they were on a casket .

At night, I always found myself falling asleep during my prayer; however, this prayer book was a perfect remedy! This book contains an excellent array of prayers for Orthodox Christians, especially for those who might be new to the church and unsure of how to get a prayer rule going! Highly recommend!

A Little Corner of Paradise is a truly inspiring book as it details the life and teachings of Elder Paisius of Sihla, who was such a humble and devoted servant of Christ and His Mother, Mary. In this book, there are heartwarming and uplifting stories written by people who have had the privilege to meet Elder Paisius and bare witness to his miracles and spiritual foretelling of events. I would highly recommend reading this book if you are or are interested in the Orthodox Faith.
