Blinded by Rage is a book I would easily recommend to anyone. It is less than 100 pages and contains practical wisdom that can actually help in day to day life.

I really appreciate how this book not only describes the early church fathers’ view on anger, but goes through realistic steps and advice that we can utilize to combat it. It goes into depth about the various types of anger (bitterness, wrath, yelling, etc.) and even goes on to explain types of righteous anger and what do to in those circumstances as well.

After reading this book, I felt not only convicted and sober-minded about the various types of anger seeping out of my own life, but encouraged and equipped with tools to fight it!

This book is a great “handbook” on anger. I read it in about two sittings. But even though it's short it is jam packed with actual usable advice. It's not just theory, but gives you an understanding of what anger is, and the difference between an Orthodox understanding vs the world's understanding. The world views anger as a good thing in a lot of cases. “You were right to be angry at that thing that happened!” “He wronged you, you have every right to be angry!” “your emotion of being angry is just”. So on and so forth. This book puts anger in a much different light.

I especially loved the chapter “Patristic Anger Therapy” . This chapter is near the end of the book, and gives you step by step instructions to overcome your anger in a Patristic manner. Even if you don't read the whole book (which you should it's only like 80 pages long” DEFINITELY read this chapter if you no longer want to be “Blinded By Rage”.

Quote “in many cases, the reality of anger is that someone has hurt you and injured what you refer to as your dignity. When you react anger that has been directed at you. You may magnify the wound that you have suffered. You will become weakened and will not have saved the one who is angry. If someone wounds you remember that in reality he has wounded himself first. You're only struck by the blow that was directed at you if you want to become its victim.”

This Akathist by Fr. Lawrence Farley has been so helpful to me that I bought a bunch and give it to those who are going through difficulties, afflictions, trials, sometimes one after another.

Fr. Lawrence has such insight and wisdom to reach the heart of those struggling with the many faces of darkness and to stand and face darkness "defiantly" as he says this akathist is meant to do with the power of God on our side.

I cannot recommend this more highly than I do! It is medicine for the soul.

This book was a tremendous help personally as someone who has always struggled with anger, even as a child. Growing up in the SBC, God’s wrath was always front and center, but this protestant view of God never sat well with me and may have led to the fueling of my own anger, since anger can be “righteous”, right? This book helped correct those preconceived notions of God and is helping me heal in areas of my life where I have struggled. The numerous quotes showing the wholistic view of anger as a negative in the Orthodox Fathers has helped reshape my own mental framework as I struggle to be transformed into the image of Christ in His Church. We must control the urge to lash out even though the world around us says that it is okay too. We must resist; we must stay calm in the face of this age. This book will be a help to anyone who struggles with anger themselves or deals personally with anyone who struggles with anger. Hopefully it will bring you as much healing as it did to me.

I didn't expect this book to be as short as it was, and that's not a negative mark at all! This title has no filler. It is very direct, and it is filled with a great understanding of how to handle anger. There's a lot of really good information packed into a very small package.

As a mom of six and a foster parent I get to see a lot of anger manifested in many different ways. This also means I don't have a lot of time for reading so books that are able to give you concise information in a small package are ideal for me. I have read several books on anger and one of the things that I particularly appreciate about this book is that it is compact and is a great resource to carry around and have on hand for when I or my children need a reminder. If it's scripture that will help with the situation it's in there, if it's the words of church fathers, it's in there, if you need some suggestions on steps to take to control anger, it's in there. I believe in today's world that it is easy to justify our anger as long as we believe that we had a good reason to get angry. This book is a much needed reminder that anger prevents us from seeing God whether we believe the anger was justified or not.

We live in an era dominated by slogans like "If you're not angry, you're not paying attention," or "You're not angry enough at [insert group or topic here]." Given this climate, one might expect a modern Christian book to argue that "Godly anger" is a virtue we should cultivate. Instead, the authors wisely choose a different path, showing how anger—in any amount or capacity—is akin to playing with a fire no one can truly control.

In this reader's humble opinion, Blinded by Rage is an essential read. It would make a wonderful, transformative study for any parish group, adult Sunday school class, or Christian book club.

Top quality unique Iconography and beautiful poem tell the story of Christ's love for humanity, particularly children. There is a QR code in the front of the book for a sung version of the entire book.

In a world constantly focused on "cancel culture" because people feel too easily angered, this book was an excellent resource. I loved that he showed the flaws with modern ideas of "righteous anger" He didn't just provide a thorough analysis of the passion of anger from both Biblical and Patristic perspectives; he also gave an effective plan for actually conquering the passion. A quick read for a passion plaguing so many of us!

I love this Bible . As an inquirer into the Eastern Orthodox Faith , this is the Bible to help me start my journey . Also , the illustrations are beautiful and the cover is soft like leather .

Short and sweet, "Blinded by Rage" is an excellent word in our volatile times. With Scripture and Patristic thought, it reminds us of the faithful ways of navigating feelings of anger, and how to properly respond to them.

The appendix of topical Psalms is sure to be helpful as well.

First this book boils down and present key orthodox theology that is essential knowledge of all Orthodox Inquirers, Catechumens or Cradle Orthodox

If you are an Inquirer, it will answer many of your questions in a short time.
For Catechumens it can easily be a supplement to your catechumen classes. I would go so far as to say in the hands of a skilled teacher this book could be used as a textbook.
For a Cradle Orthodox Christian, it is valuable as a reference for the beliefs they hold and is also suitable for young men and women who have grown up in the church but never really studied the teachings. For a variety of reasons.

This journal is a wonderful tool to practice daily mindfulness without committing a huge amount of time to journaling. Every page is so pretty and I love the prompts and quotes! It’s been a wonderful way to create a moment of peace and gratitude amidst a busy life.
