My 4 and a half month old daughter does seem to be in less pain since she's been wearing it but she still is drooling quite a bit. I'm glad there is a warning not to wear it unsupervised because she managed to get it off herself even though it is pretty tight on her. If she put it in her mouth she would definitely choke on it. I wish these could be designed to fit on a bigger safety piece that a baby could not fit in her mouth. She had a necklace before and would pull on it, so that was unsafe for her too.
