Yes, that is the point. It is not a made for a lifetime tool, but it serves a need. While VISM may not align with our brand all the time, these guys have great tools and great ideas for tools.

Mil-Spec M16A1 Carry Handle Upper Receiver - Complete - Retro - Gray
This is for the Potomac Armory made M16A1 clone upper receiver that Charlie's is selling.
Not bad overall. I have currently 3 original A1 uppers in my collection and I'd say the Potomac is visually identical down to the small details to the original Colts. Mine went together with a Brownells retro barrel I've had sitting around for a couple of years now and the barrel to upper fit was tight but not overly so, just as it should be. The finish is also very nice.
The only beef I have is the quality of the sights, and that the port door is an A2 door. The sights are loose and not up to 'mispec' quality of the original. I know it's hard to find a decent reproduction of the sights, so that really isn't Charlie's fault. The A2 port door was installed right and is ok for a 'close enough' build, but it would have been nice to see an A1 reproduction port door. Brownells sold them for a while so I know someone is probably still making them.
Overall - happy with the purchase.

All fair comments. We worked with Potomac to source these from a small shop call Shark Arms, and could see some quality areas. Potomac had to work around a milling variances and our thought was: this should work well for now, at a time when there is nothing in the market, but overall, I would grade this a B. I do recall another manufacturer a few years back just getting the milling off center on the top, so A1 and C7 uppers are hit or miss.
