I bought the Critical Strike X504 mainly out of curiosity—I had never seen a VG-10 blade knife for $45. When it arrived, I immediately saw why it was so cheap: one of the handle scale screws was completely missing. To make matters worse, the threaded hole was stripped, and neither the seller nor the manufacturer ever responded to my support requests.
Clear quality control issues explain the low price tag. However, the blade steel is legitimate—testing at a true 59–60 HRC. The action and blade centring are on par with much higher-priced knives, and the fully ambidextrous design with a deep-carry clip is a great touch. This would be an excellent EDC knife if the manufacturer simply paid closer attention to quality control.
