I do recommend this sharpener although I would practice with old knives first to get to hang of it. There is a bit of a learning curve to sharpen the knife correctly. Once you get it down you got it.

Got the chance to upgrade my mk1 Ken onion sharpener. Must admit I still have been using the mk1 as recently as last week to sharpen all my kitchen knives , my parents and my best friends (in less than 2hrs). Love the added grinder attachment as my go to. But after using the mk2 it fixed my minor discrepancies and will be my new go to.

I own multiple Work Sharp products and they all are great products. This sharpener is a complete game changer tho! It doesnt take long to put a sharp/slicey edge on a blade at all. I purchased this on Amazon (just for the record). If you want more control and precision to you knife's edge, you need this. The basic Precision kit comes with three grits and will do you fine, but if you have a really bad edge on your old knives (or not sure of the original angle grind of the blade), you will appreciate the 220 grit to start off things. Then you can go through all the grits up to where you want your blade to be. Then about every 4-6 months (say for kitchen knives) you can just do the 400, 600, and 800 grits (and maybe the ceramic) to "retune" your blade (provided you have been taking care of those blades and have been using a sharpening steel/hone frequently. For my filet knives, Glad I got this upgrade!

Although I really like this sharpener, I thought a bench sharpener would be 3x6 rather than 1 1/4 x 5 1/4, which I would prefer. This sharpener works fine for my carving knives though.

The first knife I tried, a Kershaw entry level folder, came out sharper than when I started, and it was pretty dull to begin with. That's about as good as I expected for a beginner. It's gotten better, or I have, since then.

I have been sharpening all my knives since my Precision Adjust Elite arrived. It has taken quite a a bit of time because my knives were in such bad shape (despite my attempting to keep them sharp with other stones and sharpening tools). I am about halfway done and every one is sharp enough to slice paper and shave. I think that future efforts will be much faster once the edges are sharpened properly.It would be nice if the knife holder was a bit more secure when sharpening dull knives. That would allow a little faster sharpening with the coarse stone

Well built unit that allows precise sharpening of knives of all sizes. I was able to sharpen my knives very soon after reviewing the videos and reading the instructions. At times I put a bit too much pressure on the arm and the knife would flex in the clamp but this wasn't too catastrophic because I think the angle change is compensated for by the design of the arm. A word of warning to new users.... Be careful only to slide the leather strop towards you. I managed to slice through mine the very first time I used it.
