Edit: So Paka’s customer service is fantastic and they agreed to replace my jacket after I reached out to them about my issue. This seems to be done on a case by case basis but I’m thankful I was able to get this replaced. I’m still unsure about the best way to wash this to minimize leaking fill because I did follow their directions the first time around. I can’t really give this 5 stars because of its super finicky care requirement, but I will say that it’s much warmer than any other lightweight/packable jacket I’ve tried. An alpaca lined jacket (rather than a fill), easily wash & dryable would be amazing if it was doable.

This jacket sheds like crazy once you wash it. I get that these types of jackets shed and that some shed is normal, but this one is excessive. And no, I didn’t put it in the dryer. I didn’t realize the issue until after their 30-day return period had passed so they won’t repair or replace it. I’d have given it one star but it *is* warm relative to its weight (I wouldn’t wear this in 20° weather like they say). Apparently the parka will shed similarly too, so save your money and get your jackets elsewhere. Or maybe spend it on socks if you must spend money on this company, their socks are fantastic.

I loved it.. I washed it as instructed after the first week of wearing it, following the instructions given, all was well. Washed it a second time again same result, a third wash I accidentally washed it on a warm temperature, (still hang drying it) It shrunk from a large 2 a medium, (my wife has a medium vida, which is unisex same as the hoodie) I had received an email at the time of purchase of how to care for and what to do if it shrunk, I followed the instructions using hair conditioner and warm water for an hour, hand rinsing it, then spent an hour carefully stretching it out. I laid it out for several hours to dry and then figured it would be a good idea to cold wash it on gentle to be sure I got all the conditioner out of it, I tool it out of the washer and to my dismay it had shrunk so small that my 8 year old can wear the sweater now. I’m 190 lb man it went from fitting loosely on my frame, to being small enough for an 8 year old boy.
Update January 14th Mellanie a customer experience manager emailed me to notify that she would be sending me a brand new sweater!

I am a day hiker, thru hiker and solo world traveler and my favorite piece of gear is my PAKA!

It keeps me cozy and warm, but also allows my body to breathe. This is a must have item for walking, cuddling, hiking, traveling and more!

I loved it until I wore it. Fuzz gets on everything. Not necessarily pants, but a cami, forget it. It's a shame, I hardly wear it.

Husband received the beanie as a gift and loves it. Very soft. Fits great and feels good!

My husband and I just traveled 800 miles to Winnipeg Canada and I took my new socks.💜 And my PAKA hoodie. I love the softness and warmth. Hands down my new favorite socks.🩷

My husband had been looking at Paka for some time but always has trouble finding gear that fits his chest and shoulders so he stopped at looking. I ordered The Hoodie for him for Christmas and threw in a beanie for good measure. Both fit, he loves them, and I’m not sure he’s been out of them since Christmas! He’s a huge fan and we will definitely order more!

Wow!! I bought two for Christmas gifts. One for my husband and one for our son.

My husband struggles with layering and frustration due to “bunching. This sweatshirt is PERFECT alone or as a base layer for him.

My son simple said, “great as a base layer” which for a 21 yr old is a rave review.
