With the original factory loading gate, cartridges were hard to get past the gate due to the steel spring tension. The RP gate is aluminum, so less tension on the spring. If I had to fault it in any way it would be that it doesn't cover the loading port as well as the original which give access for dust etc. to enter through the port opening even in closed position. Still, I would recommend it especially for old guys like me, much easier to push open and load ammo for old stiff fingers.

I have had my 336 for over forty years and this forearm was easy to install and looks good.

Bought Midwest handguard first wasn’t really impressed so I bought the ranger point and was very impressed ranger point handguard was better built and just looks so much better

Title says it all. Anything that allows one to easily clean from the breech end is extremely valuable. Plus looks great.

I ordered two of these and they are awesome. Easy to install and they do work. Put one in a Henry 360 Buckhammer and the other in a Henry color-case 30-30. both are now just under three pounds. Also, really smooth with zero creep, worth every penny. Thanks Ranger Point Precision.

This is a Henry Big Boy/.44 Mag install. Easy to do, all in all. It mounts with two screws; hole for rear screw is round, the hole for front screw is a bit elongated, I'll guess to accommodate variations in the center/center measurement found among different receivers. In my case; I almost used a file to make the front hole a bit longer, head of the front screw impinged on the sight base just a tad, enough that I was worried about torqueing that front steel screw into the brass receiver. But it worked out.

I have some sight adjustments to do. I do have it on target now, but need to mount a shorter front sight, and drift it just a tad further to the right to center elevation, windage adjustments on the RPP sight; not in any way attributable to the RPP sight itself, that's all on me and my particular rifle.

I will say that I wish the 'points' on the peep sight were a bit heavier. I really like the longer sight radius I get by moving the peep to the back of receiver; but sight is now so close to my eye that I can barely make out the "points" (front post is clear as a bell, however). A smaller, traditional peep sight would suit me much better, in fact I'll be shopping the RPP site for an alternative to the clover leaf peep I have now.

Must admit this; I'm sold on the traditional peep/post sight found on the M1 Garand. That just works for me. If I could have that sight picture in this particular RPP sight base, my world would be complete... for this one rifle, anyway.

As point of reference; I'm shooting, and will exclusively shoot in future, a 240 grain JSP/JHP bullet loaded to about 1690 fps in this rifle, Most factory loads are a little hotter, more at 1750-1790 fps, but out to 150 yards, energy/trajectory differences are negligible, and both are well within the 'window of adjustment' provided by this sight. That may change if you are shooting the 200 grain bullet at higher velocities.

All in all... I'd say go for it. Turn loose of some of that moldy money and give this a try.

Beautiful machining and amazing feel in the hand along with the rest of their lever action products. If upgrading your lever gun is an option look no further than ranger point precision. I normally don't leave these reviews
