This stuff went on great smooth and it really sticks so ya better have it where ya want it. The bet part is it doesn’t smell bad like tar or glue and it’s very pliable I set it in the sun and it went on smooth.

This MLV truly took my noise insulation to the next level. Yes the weight is a lot at 1lb per 1sqft but not only did this material eliminate tons of road noise (I have almost zero tire noise now) but this also changed the way my vehicle drives. It’s hard to explain the difference without being in it, but my FJ rides more like a luxury SUV now compared to a bouncy loud Jeep.

I used Butyl & CCF under the Mass Loaded Vinyl (Which I kept secure using Second Skin Dual Lock) & then used more Second Skin Overkill CCF between the MLV & my waterproof Floor Mats.

This Extra Layer was worth the extra work, and with the Help of a Second Skin Professional I ordered almost the perfect amount of material for my 2013 FJ CRUISER which kept my costs down.

That being said if anyone needs advice on how to approach an FJ CRUISER, I would love to help and give advice to make the process go even smoother then what I experienced simply because Second Skin took over an hour of their time discussing with me all the options I had without trying to upsell me. *You can find me on Instagram: @Babyota_

After 2 Months the Dual Lock Remain unmoved. With the help of a Second Skin Professional, I ordered just the right number of strips needed to seal & lock my Mass Loaded Vinyl on the floor of my 2013 FJ CRUISER.

Second Skin is hands down the best supplier of Sound Deadener & car insulation.

Work great and cleaned up easy.

Applied to the underside of my project car while it was up on
jackstands and lying on my back on cardboard. Even with the limited space, I was able to cover all the little areas that tend to rust and rattle with no issue. Project took a few hours including cleanup. Also used it over a welded patch panel on the interior. Will do the whole interior as the project gets further along. Thanks Second Skin.

the real benchmark in high end noise reduction material. resto modding my 70 monte carlo,I'm at the sound deadning step I didn't realize their were so many options, your company has by far the most information combined with your line of products will make my monte carlo quiet as a modern auto. thank you

Easy to use and had fun installing the deadner in my trunk. It was a workout but it paid off in the end.

I used spectrum on the front wheel wells of my Model 3, and found it necessary to coat the mostly vertical surfaces about 5 times to get anyway near 2 mm thickness. I used a full gallon for the two front wheel wells.

For the back wheel wells I switched to sludge. This worked much better. I used an initial coating of spectrum without the thickener, and then a second coating of the sludge. While it takes some effort to get the sludge spread and smoothed out, it coated much thicker and one coat resulted in the full gallon used for the 2 rear wheel wells. My objective was to reduce the continuous tire noise most noticeable and objectionable at 50+ mph, of which Teslas are notorious. I noted a small decrease in overall rear tire noise especially the higher frequencies, but the lower frequencies were still prominent. (Note I am referring to continuous tread noise at highway speeds, not slapping from potholes or expansion joints). Also note that the trunk and internal side of the rear wheel wells and side sheet metal had butyl rubber and 1/8 inch closed cell foam previously installed before doing the exterior side of the rear wheel wells with sludge. Overall it was a lot of work for a relatively small improvement in tire noise level. Next step will be quieter tires.

This stuff is the bees knees!!!! I'm very confident with my build that this block out all unwanted sound entering it. I used this stuff to redo my modern day firewall since I was in there. I covered the firewall with CLD completely. I did use a competitors but after buying you guys stuff, I wish I purchased SecondSkins! I'm gunning for 100 total coverage. Lots of work!!! But it already sounds phenomenal!!!! Thanks again for engineering such great products!
