I bought two of these feeders because I had bought one for my other cat a long time ago and it was really reliable. However, the two new feeders I recently bought don't dispense the cat food all at same time (I have 3 cats). I always have to manually turn the dial for the timer in order for the feeders to be in sync and it is really time consuming. What's the point of automatic feeder if I have to still babysit? A little frustrating.

I have had the cat feeder, with the timer, chute, bowl and extension for several years now and I LOVE it! We can go on long trips and do not have to worry about Tigger running out of food. This is a wonderful product and we have only had one issue, which was that the feeder extension cracked, so we had to replace it. But honestly, I am surprised it lasted as long as it did with the heavy hopper that sits on top! I was extremely happy with how fast my new extension got to me! Excellent customer service.

We have owned four of the older model CFS-3 feeders for several years, and just recently purchased another in the newer model for our newest cat.

At one time we were feeding small amounts 8 times a day, and currently we are feeding four times a day. Our cats usually know when the food is about to come out, or if they're sleeping, they come running when they hear the feeders spitting out the food.

We do not use the exact size and shape of food recommended for these feeders, so the feeders occasionally vary in the amount they put out, but that is to be expected. We like them enough to have used them for years and just spent money on a fifth!

I can't say that it's easy to adjust these feeders because it can be time-consuming to get just the right amount to come out, but no other feeder on teh market allows you to be so precise in the exact amount.

We also had problems with other feeders in that our cats could stick a paw up the chute to pull food down, or knock the feeder to make food drop. We do have one cat who manages to get a few pieces out of this feeder from time to time, but our other cats cannot.

The newest bowl design with the slope is AWESOME. We loved it on our new feeder and ended up buying four bowls to retrofit on our older feeders, whose bowls were not ideal.

While this feeder is not perfect for the type of food we use (it's prescription, so we can't change), the minor faults of the feeder are far outweighed by its pros.

I know it's a lot of money to spend on a feeder, but it's worth it!

We occasionally need to leave our dog in an indoor/outdoor kennel for a few days at a time while we are out of town. For years I have used food bowls with rotating tops to make sure that he still gets fed while we're gone, but the system was pretty bad. Between the two bowls we could leave him for a couple of days, but one bowl fed him every 12 hours and the other fed him every 24 hours, and since we needed two compartments' worth of food to match one serving, it was pretty goofy.

Recently, his one brain cell realized that he could pry the lids off the bowls, and that was the end of that.

We searched online for a long time to try and find some automated feeder systems that would work for 3 or more days, could be mounted outside of his kennel area to protect the food from his reach, and would dispense accurately. All the reviews for this product fit the bill, so long as we could find a small bites version of his food. Eventually, we did - a Nutro small bites Lamb and Rice that has almost the exact same diameter as the cat food mentioned in the specs for this unit.

The instructions were easy to understand, and with the flap set to its maximum opening, and the duration to maximum, he gets one serving each time the feeder runs. (approximately 1.25 - 1.5 cups)

We couldn't be happier!

After trying a number of different feeders and giving up on them I tried this one. Just worked perfect right from the start. Assembling would be tricky for a less-handy person which for me was no problem at all. The instructions could use a much better user-interface.

Bottomline once it was setup IT WORKED PERFECT!!!

I appreciated the customer service. I spoke with the owner and he answered all of my questions. I ordered it direct It shipped fast and they kept me up to date on the delivery every step of the way. For me install was easy. It works perfect. Have already shown it to some of my friends. The only thing I need to do is order the 1.5 gallon hopper. I didn't think to bug it on my initial order. I highly recommend this to any cat owner. Thanks.

For a first buy, this one is great. Have been using it almost a week and it hasn't missed a beat. Just got the analog timer and it is good. I get leery of the digital ones. I got another extenson, so now have 3 attached. Hardest to train the cat not to beg me for food when it gets close to the feeding times, but it is learning. Will love not having to drag the cat out when we are gone for a few days, since the cat doesn't like that.

Pets can be trained.

I found this feeder excellent. It was simple to assemble, install and set up.
Maybe a little pricey but so far worth every penny.
Mine is used to provide frequent small feedings for my overweight cat.

The hopper is just what you're looking for. More kibble. Works as you expect. Straightforward to install and secure.

The feeder works very well. However, the timer you sent didn't. I finally switched it out with the timer for the Christmas tree lights!

Easy set up, easy programming and works as promised.

I tried a couple of other of feeders for our cats but we have a locksmith cat here and the others simply failed. We'd come home to a beach-ball cat and a hungry cat. This was just not healthy for our guys so I continued searching. This one seemed expensive, but they said it was locksmith-proof. Simply put it is locksmith proof and beautifully built with high quality craftsmanship. I also highly value made in the USA and supporting small family run or employee owned businesses. I am so pleased to have been able to have found a feeder that meets all my requirements. This thing will last forever so if you are on the fence because of the cost, don't worry. There products are of the highest quality.

Good unit except the plastic to plastic connections are not secure enough. after the cat knocked it over in the 1st week it opened up at the seem of the viewable section to the motor assembly. A better way of permanently securing the plastic feed sections is necessary.

I just purchase the CFS-3 Cat Feeder with no timer (using my own analog timer) and have been very happy with the results. I had to leave town and had nobody to come in and look after my cat. I just purchased the unit last week. It came promptly and I found it very easy to assemble with the help of the video. I left the cat for 3 days and it appears to have worked nicely.

We have three cats, two adults and a kitten. The adults have been throwing up every other day from the moment we adopted them. We tried everything to help them and then just accepted that it was what they did. When we had to go away for a two week period and our sitters were unavailable, we purchased this feeder and loved it. So much so that we got another. It wasn't until a few months went by that we realized that the cats weren't throwing up anymore. The constancy and detachment from us has decreased their food-related anxiety and they no longer gulp their food.
The machine is incredibly well built--we've had no problems at all with any of ours and no matter how hard they try, the cat's can't get into it. However, my son did pull the tower down (with the extra large container on it) and it was a royal mess, but that's my fault for not securing it well enough.

I've purchased this to make ski weekends more feasible; finding neighbours to come feed was a bit of a pain.

Assembly was easy. I read a lot of the reviews on how complex it is. I wouldn't say it's complex, it's just that it's several steps and small screws. If you think it'll take 2 minutes and be ready for use, that's the wrong approach. Read the instructions, have a beer.

Program setup: digital controller is easy. Getting the right food amount took a few minutes. I'd just scoop in the amount of food they usually get and cycle the power on to see if the time was set right. The set screw is tiny for those who don't see small things easily, but manageable.

End use: it seems reliable. I black electrical taped the cord to the back in a few spots so it's nice and tidy against the wall. Of course like the other reviews, after awe and amazement at first, the furballs hear it from wherever in the house and start an all out sprint for food whenever it runs.

It's helpful to manage feed times, and as of yet I can't comment on reliability as it's only been a week.

I purchased the CSF-3 (#17D combo) for my Scottish Fold boy, Puma. He's a smart little brainiac kitty, but cannot out-smart this device. Furthermore, it's really well designed (thank you!) and very sturdy. I can't say enough good things about it, so how could I not provide a review?

Here's some of why it's so rad:
- easy to assemble
- solid construction/materials
- accommodates smaller size kibble, including Puma's little 1/4" disc shape prescription food
- making adjustments for how much food dispenses was super fast and easy and it is totally consistent.
- digital timer is great and programmed like a charm.

I needed to purchase a feeder to use for weekends when we are off skiing. My precious two kitties are on a raw food diet so I had several hurdles to get over. One was picking the best organic kibbles, which I found. Next was to be absolutley sure I had the most reliable feeder for them. I spent weeks reading reviews on various feeders and was quite disappointed with all of them, for some reason they were pretty much failures as far as reliability and dependability. I happened upon the SuperFeeders website at one point in my internet surfing, noted the price was high, but when I saw the made in the USA and the reviews I had to order it and give it a try myself. I am one to know that if you are going to by something very well made, you are going to pay for it and that is exactly what I did. I am thrilled with the feeder. Installation was simple, I followed the youtube video. Digital timer instructions were also clear. It just takes time to sit down and focus and it can be done easily. We did improvise and install two pvc pipes to 'split' the feed between the two kitties. We also constructed a divider between the two kitties. Again, it took a little focus and we figured out how to do it and not have 'houdini' kitties pull it apart. I have used the feeder on the digital timer for a few days to try it out. The kitties come running when they hear it, and by the way the feeder is not loud...the food hitting the bowl is what you hear. GREAT product, love it. Will recommend it to anyone! ( I would gladly send a photo of how we rigged up the feeder for two kitties to anyone who needs it, it's simple). THANK YOU SUPERFEEDER PEOPLE FOR A GREAT PRODUCT!

My cat inhales his food, so every time I've gone away, he's thrown up because my catsitter visits only once a day and gives him all his food then. I didn't trust most sub-$100 feeders because he's very strong and determined, but I also couldn't justify a $500 feeder. The basic Superfeeder seemed like a good compromise. I attached it securely to heavy furniture so he couldn't knock it over, and instead of using a bowl, I just let the kibbles (Blue Buffalo) bounce on the floor so he had hunt and eat them one at a time. I used a cheap analog lamp timer, and I adjusted the feeder to release less than a quarter-cup at a time. The feeder was very dependable, and this was the first time my cat didn't throw up. The only thing I would improve is how the black lid is fastened onto the clear storage bin; I think my cat could have pried it off, so I taped it down. It did take some time and effort to install, but the instruction video was great, and I'm very pleased and relieved that I can keep his feeding schedule closer to normal when I'm gone for several days. Now I feel OK to leave him alone overnight, and it's definitely saved me lots of anxiety.
