This was a good half marathon and although very challenging in terms of hills, i was proud of my achievement! Sore legs the day after but i beat my 2 hour target! I do think that if Exeter wants to claim the run as the Great West run it would need to improve on some things. Namely: The village was some distance from the start area; the actual start was quite narrow with runners trying to find gaps etc, running around bollards, on the pavement etc.
Maybe a revised starting line.? What about the village area say, in the grounds of the cathedral and the start from there? A great backdrop for the run.:-)
The goody bag at the end was a bit mean, say compared to the Torbay half marathon which was better in terms of number of items, t-shirt quality. I understand that the Torbay half marathon has been going much longer than Exeter and this is reflected in the quality of the whole event.
The actual vibe of the crowds at Exeter was quite poor and didnt really live up to the billing of a 'Great West Run'.
The plus sides were the excellent marshalling, drink and energy stops and really useful pacemakers! These were all good!
So for Exeter to rival the Great North Run it really does need to revise the course and to 'show off' more of Exeter...at times i felt i could be running down any street. Especially with the long hill at the end. I am sure Exeter can claim its GWR status, but not yet. But i will remember this marathon as a challenge for myself and for all runners! Thank you!

Brilliant day very well organised

A nice, well organised race. The marshalls and other volunteers were all lovely, a big thanks to them for their hard work.

I loved it. I'm in pain like I've never known but I loved it. On the day, when I first turned up, having never run a race before, I wasn't sure what to do or if I needed to "sign in" or anything. I also had no idea what the village was or if I needed to be there; my only critical feedback would be that the info before the race didn't really help me know what I needed to do when I got there on the day....or if it did then it wasn't obvious enough for me.

My first Half Marathon in over 30 years!. The weather was great, there was a good atmosphere and the organisation exceptional, which made it such an enjoyable event for me????

Overall it was a well organised and fun event however it would have been great to have a little more music along the route. The crowd were awesome too.

Really well signed course, plenty of drink stops, plenty of toilets, great set up. Have always said that having the last three miles through residential streets is great, as you get a lot of support from the wonderful people and children of Exeter handing out sweets and encouragement.

A beautiful run that was well supported and well signposted.

Great event

Really well organised event. I've taken part in 3exeter marathons now and this years was my favourite.
The corse is fantastic, with views you don't see everyday.

Well organised and marshalled, efficient communication before race. Shame I had to run!

Amazing spectator and staff support. Everybody was really into the spirit of this and the cheering and music help with every step. One of the runs like this I've done but certainly won't be the last. When can I sign up for next year ???? A great run for newbies and seasoned runners.

Amazing run, slightly disappointed on the lack of able parking and the lack of a warm up.

Fantastic run and route.
Improvement - water bottles and lucozade bottles. 100 ml instead of 330 and 500 ml. Massive waste of water and lucozade as well as the environmental cost.
