The trees were in good condition and were protected from damage during shipping. I appreciated that very much. A few damaged roots (or damaged ends of roots) could have been cut off cleanly but otherwise the trees were great.
I would request in the future that you communicate better when not being able to ship the trees in the fall. I had hoped to plant the trees last fall and had even pre-dug the holes and stored the soil indoors when the ground froze. I had been expecting the trees to be shipped the week before Christmas (after calling and being told that would be when they arrive) but when they didn't show up I called and was told that "the trees couldn't be shipped the week before Christmas since they could end up sitting in a UPS facility for too long. " By then it was too cold to plant them so the trees couldn't be shipped until spring. A little better communication last fall about not being able to ship the trees during the holiday season would have been appreciated.

Buy Bur Oak Trees Online at Ty Ty Nursery
I purchased 2; 7-8ft tall. They arrived last week and were planted. They had no budding on them with bare roots. Essentially tall sticks. Did notice that the roots had been pruned to fit in the box. There was paper and ice in the tapped root ball. Now it is a waiting game. . .

Got it in the ground and it started budding right away. Was surprised at the way the top growth was lopped off, but may be what is best for the tree. Very pleased so far.
