Great gear, great support, great folks. Purchased as a replacement for an array that has been working for more than 10 years. Ambient has supported my refresh and repair of the older unit but decided to mount a completely replace it and keep my rebuild one as a spare. The Ambient app and Web Dashboard are exceptional and the unit interfaces easily with 3rd party services such as Weather Underground and PWS. Good value and fairly priced.

Great Station!

Bought this to replace an old array that had stopped working. Like the upgraded sensors. Took a while to sync with my A series base unit, but it finally did. All good now !

Simple assembly and installation. Connectivity was a snap. Good product. And at half the price of my Davis unit. Time will tell if it lasts.

So far working as advertised. Purchased 3 sensors for it also. Setup was easy up and working in 10 mins

I couldn't be any happier with the WS 5000 It was an early Christmas gift from my lovely wife Mary. The accuracy is extremely good. And the sensitivity for wind direction and speed is almost unheard of . Certainly beats the old cups and wind vane by far! Rain gauge very accurate.

The only thing I had a problem with was the installation of the rain cup. The rubber pads around the perimeter of the cup base are way too thick. I tried trimming them down and eventually removed them altogether. We had a long spate of severe winter, weather so I was unable to get the sensor assembly mounted outside. I got it placed outside day before yesterday in a temporary location. I'm hoping to get it permanently mounted by the end of the week. Everything else is functioning normally. I do like the display.

So far great an BUT a review needs to wait for more time. to see performance.

Had to replace the exterior array (thanks hurricane Ian) - so I need help pairing the new array to the existing inside control console. Just popped on the website and submitted a request for assistance and received an email with a great video link and follow-up detailed instructions. Apparently someone in the neighborhood ALSO has an Ambient Weather system as my first pairing wasn't MY array, but I figured out something was up and paired to my unit the second time. Everything paired and working great - I LOVE IT (yea, I'm a weather geek). THANKS to Ambient tech support to get me going fast and easy!

I purchased this weather station because I needed a weather station that I could access its data directly from the weather station using a computer program (as opposed to having to go online to download my own weather data from someone else's site). For this reason, I would give it 5 stars because it was the only affordable system I found that would do this - and it does it well. I gave it 4 stars, however, because there were a few features that I thought were lacking in a competitive weather station. FYI, I used this system to replace an AcuRite 5-in1 weather station, so this is what my personal standard is based on. First, I could read the info on the AcuRite's console (display) at an angle; not so with the AW console - you have to look almost directly at it or else its info "disappears" (the screen is polarized). Secondly, I was disappointed to find that Ambient Weather offers no appreciable Android widget for looking at my weather conditions at a glance. There is a 3rd party widget for Ambient Weather, but it ONLY displays outdoor temperature, indoor temperature, and the time. My AcuRite widget I used gave MUCH more information than this, including daily rainfall amount. Lastly, I was hoping I could access historical weather data from my new weather station from a computer program via Ambient Weather's API, but I found their API to be very weak (so far, I can only download the "now" weather conditions and historical weather data for the last 24 hours using their API, even though they store a year's worth of my data; to get any more historical data than that I have to go to their website, navigate through several screens, manually enter the date range for the data I want, and the "click" on a button (something that computer programs cannot do).
In summary, I find their hardware very satisfactorily for the money and I especially like their console's feature to broadcast the current weather data to a "custom" server (in this case, it is my Linux PC). All of this works very well. However, I do find their online support lacking, their lack of an Android widget (as opposed to an app that has to be launched) disappointing, and their API for electronically downloading my own personal weather station's historical weather data anemic. Therefore, my 4 star rating should be interpreted as a 5 star rating for the sensor array and the functionality of its display console to broadcast its information to a local server, and then a 3 star rating for the quality of the displayed information, the lack of an Android widget, the verbose web pages and Android app, and the mediocre API.
Despite the disappointments with the widget and the API, I am still glad I purchased this weather station to replace my AcuRite. FYI, this unit also measures UV radiation and Light intensity, which the AcuRite did not (understanding that the AcuRite was ~$40 cheaper).

Much improved display over the display with the 1002 model. The sensor array is easier to mount with no special pole required. Most importantly, the readings appear to be accurate. I also like the ability to connect multiple sensors. I’m giving it only four stars because I cannot rate the durability at this time.

What I would expect

This is a vast improvement over the Lacrosse system it replaced. For 5 stars, would have loved the ability of the displays to show additional temperature sensors instead of having to go to the app.

Great purchase. Need new instruction booklet as I misplaced mine and it is a really informative one. Great customer service.

User manual is ‘misleading’ when is says ‘default position’ (all four switches in ‘down’position).
This sensor came with all four switches in the ‘up’ position. This along with the possibly confusing picture of switch positions leads one to potential error in switch settings.
