God’s Saintly Friends

Such a short and sweet book for little ones! Short and engaging, our Sofiya (2.5) loves to look at the artwork, which is phenomenal! We love that there are a bunch of female Saints, which is amazing for little girls to see. I cannot wait to see what the next volume has to offer. A perfect introduction into Saint stories, in a board book!

The book is riveting. I earned about the book when Zachary and Brad were guests on Ancient Faith Today-Live with Fr. Thomas Soroka. Their depth, candor, and passion lead me to purchase the book that day. The book provides details that are certainly absent from the new coverage of the last decade. In addition to discussing the current events, the book provides wonderful insights in to the ancient Christian foundations within Syria. The writing of Zachary and Brad, along with the detailed accounts of those interviewed, took me on a journey along with them. I've not yet visited Syria but I feel that my heart has already experienced the beauty, richness, and compassion of the Syria and her people. My son and I read the book at the same time and daily had discussions about what we read. He is in his mid-thirties and like myself, he was astonished and dismayed at how the news coverage and political approach were so far off the mark. The book as the power to inform and transform. It is more than an interesting read, it invites the reader to become better.

This book is a great tool to utilize during the prenatal and postpartum period. I am a new certified nurse-midwife and know the period after giving birth can be challenging. The frequent visits for the mother stop, the exhaustion from the birthing process and sleepless nights may lead to difficult times. It is vital to have a great support system - spiritual family, family, friends, ect.
This book provides another support as it shares personal experiences and realistic expectations of the mother, following the birth of a child. It is presented in easy to read daily sections. Importantly, it provides spiritual encouragement and areas to reflect as you rest and recover.

Absolutely adored this book! I wonder if one day there could be a film/animated movie made based on it. Thank you very much!

Everyone who has every struggled with the question of violence in the OT, should read this book!

I was pleased by the accessible, easy-to-read style, use of metaphor and analogy, and up-to-date scholarship behind this book. It was, indeed, a revelation of the Christianity once given, for all, and for all time, as fresh in its Orthodox expression today as it was practice by the apostles, their disciples, and the ancient faith made living today. It reveals so many 180-degree quality differences on perception from what is today's failing, diluted western Christian (Protestant denominations, ad nauseam, as well as what the Roman Catholic Church has become in many situations -- albeit with some exceptions).
I have become a fan of Fr. De Young, and since reading this work have been delighted to find the Lord of Spirits podcast he does with Fr. Damick, as well as his New Testament Bible studies (Whole Counsel of God podcast at https://www.ancientfaith.com/podcasts... he has a blog of the same name: https://blogs.ancientfaith.com/wholecounsel/

I love this little icon box. I will be ordering again next Nativity; this is a beautiful gift.

A truly inspiring resource of devotion. Beautifully bound.

Very beautiful!

My whole family loves this book! It’s amazing! Learn about the saints with a quick summary and introduction for each one. A wonderful idea!

This book is excellent and I highly recommend it

beautiful!

This is a wonderful gift for the children (and parents!) of the Orthodox Church. It’s an awesome resource and I’m beyond grateful for the authors and illustrator of this blessing!

I love this. Every time I get into the car I am reminded of Who is with me wherever I go. We have a children’s prayer book in the car that our kids sometimes read, and it’s helpful to have these icons before us. It also served as a meaningful gift to a dear friend.

I gave both as Christmas gifts to 2 ladies at my Serbian Orthodox Church. Both ladies were so happy and said it was the perfect gift! They were equally thrilled to receive the calendar.

A VERY beautiful and inspiring Christmas design!

Once candle is placed in the blue cup not much light is visible

It's really lovely!

Syria Crucified
For us in America, especially those born and raised here. The concept of martyrdom for our faith seems to belong to the pages of history. However, in Syria people are being persecuted for the Orthodox Faith daily, and many have been martyred. Syria Crucified brings us stories of modern martyrs in Syria. This book struck especially home for me since my wife’s family were originally from Syria. Zachary Wingerd and Brad Hoff bring us a collection of stories from those who have been personally persecuted and martyred. From Rouba’s Story to Ibrahim’s Story, I was entranced. These are stories of deep love of the Faith and the sacrifice that these brave souls endured. It is almost impossible for us as American Orthodox (especially those who have been born a converted here) to understand the pain and suffering of the Syrian Orthodox daily. I highly suggest that every Orthodox read this book, understand that there are still those being martyred and know that our Faith in some parts of the world is still under siege. Reading this is like having the band aid of ignorance ripped off in one motion. It will hurt and you may cry, but a healing of both understanding and love for these souls will be your reward
