This is a beautiful book. It’s probably too late for this, but it would be great if in future printings/revisions Ancient Faith considered using the psalms from their own Ancient Faith Psalter in their Ancient Faith Prayer Book. The Psalter version psalms are more “readable” imo and if you’re using both books together, it just makes sense to have one translation. Also, it would be great if the psalms were in regular type. Italics are harder on older eyes.

She writes like an academic writing for other academics. It is dull. I quit three-quarters of the way through.

Your calendars are always excellent.

It isn’t as good as his earlier book THE AGE OF DIVISION. It’s a bit dull to read, but it is getting better as I keep reading. It’s still a good book.

Seemed cheap/ plastic

It happened that I discovered Fr Stephen's new book as I did a search, yet again, on how to reconcile the violence so very prevalent in the OT, still longing for a satisfactory answer. It was there where I saw AF's website, advertising a new book - God is a Man of War - by Fr Stephen De Young. I was delighted, as I have learned so very much from Fr Stephen teachings. I knew right then that my question was going to be answered in full...to overflowing. And it most certainly was.
Fr Stephen does not gloss over the difficulties of life as presented in scripture, as these difficulties continue up to this day. He explains how the ancients of the OT understood violence, punishment, killing and war; sin, oppression of the weak by the strong, recompense and repentance; sacrifice and forgiveness; and how they understood the justice, righteousness and holiness of God. This, in contrast to some misunderstandings and misinterpretations in modern thought of what Scripture is saying to us, throughout time.
Father reminds us that it is "perfectly correct" to see Yahweh and Christ in the same light. You would think that this is obvious, that this does not need to be said. But it bears repeating because for some there is significant dissonance between the perception of God in the Old verses the New Testament. Father reminds us of the verse, "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever".
It is impossible for my review to relate the depth of teaching in this book. You will encounter material of much density in its147 pages. At times, I found I had to stop and absorb, perhaps research, and then return. I found this in particular with "Lot and His Daughters". Frankly, that piece was difficult for me to grasp. Father took four pages to explain this difficulty. It was at the end of that piece that I began to better understand. Still, a difficult passage.
I highly recommend Fr Stephen's book. I appreciate his straightforwardness in explaining these difficulties, and at the same time, his respectfulness toward those who have opposing views.

Just got started reading the book. I have enjoyed the previous two and expect this one will be as informative as they were. Highly recommended.

Father Thomas leads the reader on a journey into the Orthodox approach to dealing with all of the passions, specifically same sex attraction. I mention all the passions because the reader will quickly see that Fr. Tom doesn’t place more importance on this particular passion. But one will quickly see the purpose of the book is to explain how not fulfilling this particular passion employs the very same methods that the Church has passed down for years to deal with all the passions. The writer goes on to mention some of the “issues” that arise in society and in Churches today when trying to navigate down the road of how to relate and approach one who either has same sex attraction or is actually fulfilling that passion in a way that the Church would not bless. I’d recommend this book to all pastors and even those who may not contend with this particular passion but may not be able to overcome the passion that they are dealing with. What the Church has given to one, it gives to all. The answer is always found in Christ and in HIs Body. I was not disappointed in the way Fr. Thomas explained the Church’s teaching and thinking towards same sex attraction and I believe many would benefit from reading this book.

My friends little toddler adores these eggs and pouch! she Carrie’s them around with her everywhere!

I couldn’t be happier with these young adult prayer books. Both of my late teen kids and god sons are finding tremendous wisdom and hope.

My husband is loving the book so far! Amazing!

Good quality of image and cards.

I get this calendar every year. My children and I love it.

I like it very, very much as I now read it along with the footnotes in the Orthodox Study Bible. It leaves me something to meditate on. I give it five stars.

Great prayer book…. Would recommend!

As someone who teaches ancient near eastern history, I really enjoyed diving into modern Syria and the difficulties faced by the church there.

This book is darling! Although the text does not have a lot of information about St. Abigail, it's a good counting book for young children. The illustrations are beautiful. My 2 year old daughter loves the book and insists we read the brief bio featured at the end.

Loved the book but was unable to order for grandkids because it was sold out.

Beautiful!!

It was a Christmas gift to a daughter and she was thrilled to get it!
