The book, along with the LOS podcast and Whole Counsel Blog/Podcast, fill out many “holes”/misunderstandings in modern Christian thought/practice and “uncover” what has always been there in the Orthodox Church. Reading through the book (and the other resources mentioned) has helped connect dots and participate more fully in our Church Services, Scripture reading, and overarching Tradition.
Thank you Fr. Stephen De Young!

Outstanding.

Everyone should read this. It will expand and enrich the whole Christian experience. It is more than a purely scholastic exposition...it is a whole new way of seeing. Supplement this with the Lord of Spirits podcast and the Symbolic World YouTube channel.

This is a book for which I have waited for a while! Fr. De Young was able to organize a great deal of information in a clear manner, which lead to so many moments of wonderful insight for me. It has better organized and clarified the information from The Lord of Spirits podcast for me. I could not stop reading this book and I am planning to read it again soon. This is a must have in the library of most Christians living in our days. Also looking forward to Fr. Stephen De Young's next book.

Excellent Book! Very well written in a way that both Orthodox and non-orthodox can understand. Topics covered were broken down in a way that could be easily digested. I appreciated the indexes and bibliography. I hope for and look forward to many more books written by Father Stephen De Young.

ROP is as incandescent as Paul’s journey to Damascus.

My only complaint is that it's not 10 times longer.

There is a little question that this should be mandatory reading four people coming into the Church, but just as importantly, for priests and anyone who finds themselves in the role of a teacher in the Church. Fr. Stephen’s work goes a long way toward undoing modernity’s grasp on our interpretive methods and shines a light on antiquity unlike nearly anything else available. So stop reading my review and buy this book.

This is a good book.

Very well written, clear, and methodical approach to a paradigm-shifting set of subjects. Just, a lovely book!

Listening to “Thinking Orthodox” was an eye-opening or rather “mind-opening” experience. Even though I have been an Orthodox Christian for almost forty years, Dr. Constantinou’s book helped me realize that my twenty or so years of being a Protestant Christian affected my thinking in ways I hadn’t realized – mostly good but sometimes limiting my ability to fully embrace some of the joy and freedom found in Orthodoxy.
I especially enjoyed that Dr. Constantinou read the audio version of her book. Her voice was familiar from listening to her podcast, Search the Scriptures, and her personal experience of Orthodoxy along with her years of academic study and teaching comes through in her voice.
Part I describes the Orthodox mindset or phronema and how it colors and affects our understanding of both Scripture and Tradition in important ways. The chapters in Part I were the most profound and easily understood of the three parts. Among other things, Dr. Constantinou discusses how the Orthodox phronema helps one avoid the temptation of a pharisaical approach to the Orthodox lifestyle.
Parts II and III were very interesting but I think would be better understood in printed form – easier to review and use the material in the footnotes. Because of the depth of this material, I would recommend acquiring the printed or e-book along with the audio version of this book.
Dr. Contantinou’s frequent references to quotes from the Church Fathers throughout the book are pearls of wisdom that many of us may not have had a chance to hear before. This is a long book, but well worth the time to listen to and to read.

HERODOYUS, THE HISTORIES

There are not many books that leave me speechless. The Lightkeeper by Sherry Shenoda is one of them. I found myself re-reading sentences, paragraphs, and pages because it is so beautifully written. I literally could not put this book down.
The protagonist of this enchanting novel is a nameless, ageless, light Keeper who travels through time to lighthouses and their keepers who are in need of assistance. Throughout the book the Keeper experiences the basic emotions of sadness, fear, surprise, anger, love, and eventually she has to make a decision that will change her life and the life of others. This work of fiction has everything a reader would want in a book: mystery, adventure, history, and romance.
I enjoyed this book so much that I have recommended it to all my friends.

The Lightkeeper would be a great pick for book clubs. But give your group extra time for discussion, you will be talking about this book long after you’re finished reading it.

I received a copy of The Lightkeeper for an honest review.
I loved this book so much that I bought the e-book to read it again.

Thinking Orthodox is a definitive and fresh take on the theology of our rich church and what it really means to be an Orthodox Christian. In each chapter, Dr. Constantinou guides the reader bit by bit to help them enrich their understanding of Orthodoxy. This book is intellectually appealing, and is a must for converts, such as myself who was baptized Orthodox but raised outside the church. The best part is that each chapter builds on the last, helping you grow each time you visit the book. While I often prefer reading physically copies of books, Dr. Constantinou does an excellent job as the narrator of the audiobook version as she paces each sentence well, and gives the listener time to really process and study each section of the book. Especially as our world changes and transforms, this book is a great companion for anyone seeking to strengthen their faith.

Great book. For anyone who thinks of God as an "old, Santa Claus- like man in the sky" - please consider reading this.

Packed full of nuggets regarding Time and Despondency. Very well researched and then put into the author's own words and experience. It is challenging to stay in the present. It is vital in our movement towards God in the moment and into eternity. This is being read in a book club. It is Excellent, Excellent, Excellent !!!

I thourghly enjoyed reading this book

I was disappointed with this book

Very nice edition. Looking forward to Holy Week!

I have been using the ebook versions for some time now as they have become available. Now I have all of the commentaries in book form, perfect for writing notes, underlining points as I study. An absolute "must have" set of commentators for Orthodox homes.

Absolutely a must have for Orthodox homes. The lessons on the Saints, the reflections and Homilies and hymnography for every single day is one of the best books I've added to my prayer corner and my daily learning and reflection.
