Royal Monastic: Princess Ileana of Romania
Any woman seeking advice on how to live a life pleasing to the Lord should read this book and be counseled by the life of this humble Romanian princess. Every chapter perfectly demonstrates the living out of the fruit of the spirit. Reading of the suffering of this gentle soul, and seeing how she truly lived as Jesus lived, a life of meek, loving servitude to her people, has certainly strengthened the hunger in my soul to draw closer to the Lord. The bible verses and sayings of the saints were very well suited, and beautiful. So often, books of the lives of the Saints are only about men, which isn;t a problem, it is inspiring to read of God serving men. But I am thankful for the example of princess Ileana, so that we women may also learn how to be pleasing to the Lord.

A Gift for Matthew, paperback edition
“A Gift for Matthew” is the story of a young boy named Matthew who is privileged to visit a monastery for a day to observe and assist a monk in the process of writing icons. Brother Justin welcomes Matthew and incorporates him into the writing process, teaching him about icons and how they are made. The wording of the book concisely explains the process in easy-to-understand terminology, and takes the reader through the writing of the icon step by step, through Matthew’s eyes. By the end of the day, Matthew is reluctant to leave the monastery because he is enjoying the experience so much. Brother Justin’s invitation for Matthew to return the next day cheers him, as does the gift he discovers in his backpack when he arrives home.

The Sign of the Cross: The Gesture, the Mystery, the History
Dr. Andreopoulos addresses the sign of the cross from many different angles in his book. He looks first at experiencing the sign of the cross; then at the history of the sign; he then addresses why we as people even need symbols and signs; he touches on how the sign of the cross is a prayer; and he finishes with the cosmic significance of the cross. Although the book is only five chapters long, each chapter is full of information and causes the reader to think deeply about the sign of the cross. The reader comes away from the book with a deeper appreciation for this sign.

Help! I'm Bored in Church: Entering Fully into Worship in the Divine Liturgy
The title of Fr. David Smith’s book Help! I’m Bored in Church caught my attention from the moment I saw it. I mean, who HASN’T felt bored in church? Maybe a few people haven’t, but in this entertainment-overload society, I for one have “felt” (or, perhaps, “chosen to feel”) bored in church, and I am certain that I am not alone. The title caught me, and the tagline "Entering Fully into Worship in the Divine Liturgy" only enhanced my desire to read this book. So I began, and here is what I found: honesty, truth, and logical steps towards being more involved in the Divine Liturgy, served up with a delightful touch of humor.

The Ascetic Lives of Mothers: A Prayer Book for Orthodox Moms (2ND EDITION)
This book is a must-have for any Orthodox mom who wants to prayerfully raise her children in the Faith. The heartening chapters at the beginning of the book set the reader’s mind at ease that she is not the only mother going through tough circumstances or wondering how on earth to live her Faith in the midst of the mundane tasks of motherhood. The bulk of the book is the myriad of prayers for various situations, which have been carefully gathered and organized by topic, and can therefore be easily found. The book includes basic daily prayers, prayers for times of trouble, prayers for the sick, preparation for confession, prayers of blessing and thankfulness, prayers through the stages of motherhood, prayers for godchildren and other “bonus” children, prayers for the future, and more.

Great Book to Reset Your Unto God
Time and Despondency: Regaining the Present in Faith and Life
The author does a great job defining despondency in the early part of the book. However, she does a great job giving detailed information on how to overcome despondency. I would highly suggest reading this book for all who are struggling connecting regularly with God.
