(Audio version) Audio books narrated by their authors can be either amazing, or a bust. In this case, the author and narrator, Melinda Johnson, brings the book to life with her reading in an enjoyable way. She gives voice to the characters that, while not lacking by reading the book oneself, is animated and accessible, and a pleasure to listen to. Having read the hard copy a year before listening to the audio version, I found that the narrator's inflections and vocal expressions added to the storytelling. My kids, ages 9, 7, 5, and 3 all enjoyed listening as well. It was a great read to take in during our meal and crafting time. I heartily recommend

I love it and use it daily.

An excellent resource for all Orthodox Christians. Great for prayer worship and getting to know your faith. Icons and articles from Orthodox writers.

I love it and use it daily.

Stunning!

The cards were exceptional as always! I really like the Byzantine theme and overall synthesis! I buy Christmas cards from Ancient faith every year! Please keep up the old designs as well as the new ones! Thank you! Blessed Nativity!

A great book, giving a good way to focus in this crazy world.

First off, I have to say that I love Mother Alexandra. I have read her memoir, I Will Live Again, and visited Holy Transfiguration, the monastery she started in Elwood, PA. I was very excited to hear that Ancient Faith Publishing was reprinting her book Holy Angels. This book is such a very thorough resource on Angelology starting at the very beginning of creation and continuing throughout history to the present time. I really like how she broke her study down into categories. She covers the entirety of the Old and New Testaments as well as the early church Fathers, major historical time periods, even examining the history of angels in art.
One of my favorite aspects of this book is that it’s not based on personal opinions. Mother Alexandra thoroughly breaks down the Scriptures to share each time Angels are mentioned. She gives the synopsis of the encounter with the Angel and the attributes that we can gather from the facts stated. I also really love how she inserts prayers from Orthodox prayers, Akathists and Cannons as they pertain to the topic discussed. It helps to unify the sacred subject of Angels to our daily spiritual life.
While the book is said to be written for lay people, I did have some trouble understanding some topics. Mother Alexandra is obviously very well educated and does discuss some complex thoughts on Angels. Most of the stories were very understandable, but there were definitely a few sections that I had to reread and then read again to try and understand what was being said.
Overall I thoroughly enjoyed The Holy Angels. I learned many things about Angels that I had not noticed while reading the Scriptures and even more through early church history and art. I gathered many helpful quotes and notes to look back through and contemplate as I continue to grow and study.
“We can only truly comprehend the angels when we see them as true servers of God, perfectly fulfilling his command, executing their mission in fullest reflection of God’s will.”

Beautiful color icons. Great narrative description of the icons and the iconographers on the first 2 pages. High quality print/color/paper.

Excellent. Very insightful. Written by Mother Alexandra, of blessed memory, who may one day be glorified as a Saint.

Excellent Orthodox Christmas cards.

Beautiful and perfect for reminding me of the rhythms that guide my life. Time is a gift from God and the calendar that centers around reminders of what he has done for us are invaluable. The photos of the Holy Land are beautiful reminders of my own pilgrimage and are well chosen for each liturgical season. Thank you for this beautiful calendar!

The prayer bracelet is beautiful. I have also purchased for family members. We love them!

Beautiful. A birthday present for my wife. She loves it. Euphrosynos looks down over her kitchen now, where I am occasionally allowed to trespass and bake a loaf or two.

Lovely

Very appropriate for the Christmas season, these cards are a beautifully subtle way to share the Orthodox faith with our loved ones!

I liked the Orthodox messages of the Christmas cards, but didn't think the quality of the cards was quite as good as they were in previous years.

Wonderful book!

Excellent book!

It's so beautiful! I will be saving the pictures for my Sunday School classroom!!
