Pocket Prayer Book for Orthodox Christians - Red Cover
The size of the book is just right for traveling, but the text is super super tiny. So, you’d better have your glasses ready... I don’t think I can use it for this reason, I will give it away to a young person with 20/20 vision.

Rock and Sand: An Orthodox Appraisal of the Protestant Reformers and Their Theology
This is an excellent book. It really opened my mind to the Protestant historical and present reality. As a Protestant, it made me question my faith and, needless to say, it has strengthened my desire to become an Orthodox Christian. I have personal doubts still, though. Let's see where our great God takes me.

Glorify Him, pack of 15 Christmas cards
The inside of the card is just as beautiful as the outside. The symbolism expresses the joy of the season. Ancient Faith always has the most wonderful selection.

The Children’s Bible Reader
This Bible is perfect for our nightly readings with our 2, 4 and 6 year old children. It reads easily, from one account to the next, with beautiful byzantine-style icons and colors. My kids love the icons and depictions! The accounts are accurate, and not sugar-coated (but not scary, either), so that the children can learn the truth. I'm so happy to have found this, and sorry not to have bought it sooner. We got a couple for our godchildren as well. They are a good size, hard-back and just overall lovely. I would highly recommend this as a first Orthodox Christian Bible. It's teaching me a lot, as well, as it takes the Old Testament accounts and simplifies them, making it easier for me to get the summary of it, as well. So grateful for Orthodox resources!

Surviving the Loss of a Loved One
This was an excellent book to have after the loss of my husband. I found comfort in the short readings and meditations. I could easily open to any page or topic and find the spiritual support I needed. Highly recommend to anyone undergoing the loss of a loved one.

Nearly Orthodox: On Being a Modern Woman in an Ancient Tradition
This book was a punch in the gut. Angela Carlson nailed a lot of my thoughts and experiences SO on the head in this book. I identified with her descriptions of her youth and high school years (in general, not in the details, of course). All the messy insecurities, self-recriminations, social anxieties that happen when you are a woman in the United States who decides to do something, ANYTHING, against the grain.
The story-telling jumped around, like it does when you are letting your thoughts out to a friend. Very conversational. A chance statement that reminds you of a thing that happened yesterday, or last week or last decade which serves to illustrate the thought you are trying to get across. That can be a little disconcerting because, especially in audio, the jump can seem kind of abrupt. After a couple of chapters, I got used to that style and was not so confused when she went from 2019 to 1982 to 2000 to 2019 (for example) in three paragraphs. I can see why folks would be confused.
There was audible background noise and some electronic hissing that came across, regardless of what device I used. If Ancient Faith Publishing is going to continue with audiobook offerings, they should invest in cleaning up the audio a bit more. This is not the first book I have received from them that has that issue. Professional narrators would be a good idea as well. I understand that the author of an autobiographical work might seem to be the best to tell their own tale, they often come across as monotone, which can make for a boring listen. Just a thought.
All in all I appreciated this book for what it was--a woman's tale of her journey to Orthodoxy. I related greatly to both her and her journey. There were many thought provoking moments and I had to stop listening a couple of times because her path, dirty, dusty, tiring as it was, was so like mine.
3.5 stars
Full Disclosure: I was given an Audible credit to purchase this book in return for an honest review. Thank you for the opportunity to do this, AFP!

Truly Human: Recovering Your Humanity in a Broken World
This is one of the most insightful books I have read into the brokenness of our humanity and the ever persistence, zeal and gentleness of God in wanting to heal our heart, mind and spirit with our daily 'death' and 'resurrection'.

The Morning Offering
I love this book! If you’re like me with a busy lifestyle, and you struggle to get your daily spiritual fuel, this book is for you. The entire book is a collection of daily readings that take no more than a minute or two to read. Each passage is short and sweet, and best of all, each passage is loaded with a profound message to carry you throughout your day. This isn’t a book filled with complicated theology or academic verbiage. The words in this book are practical and easy to digest (even though some passage will definitely challenge you). I have grown more fond of Abbot Tryphon with every passage I read. He’s truly a gifted man that has a talent for expressing the simplicity of the spiritual life with a pleasant flavor, even when it comes to the toughest of messages. He really conveys the mind of Christ in the whole book. He connects to every Christian, regardless of the person’s background.
I’ve listened to “The Morning Offering” Podcast quite regularly so I must admit that his deep voice has typically resonated in my ears during my reading of these daily passages. I can usually hear that same tone of voice in the words I read in this book, which is actually more of a perk, but I presume that has pleasantly biased my reading of this book. Anyone who has heard Abbot Tryphon’s voice will know exactly what I mean. On a side note: I also appreciate the physical quality of this publication. I don’t know how to explain it but if you love books, you know when a book just feels good in your hands, and this is one of them. It doesn’t feel like a cheep printing, it’s something that even compels you to carefully preserve it because of its quality. I certainly have nothing negative to say about this book although at times I finish reading a certain passage and wish that there was still more content to elaborate on the same topic and to further expand on it, although that would defeat the very purpose of this book—to give you a short and sweet spiritual bite to feed your soul and help you grow every day.

The Holy Angels
Wow, what a beautiful, encouraging, and potentially life-changing book. I'm so thankful that Ancient Faith unearthed and republished this gem, because it has deeply impacted my spiritual life and perceptions, and should be a must-read for all Christians.
The depth and scope of this book is so fully comprehensive, I cannot imagine how many years Mother Alexandra spent just on the research of this topic. She takes the reader step-by-step through the Bible to discuss literally everything "angel" from their names to their role to their appearance (or lack thereof) to their order and their relationship to God, each other, and humanity. As if that weren't enough, she then continues to guide the reader through the writings of the Church Fathers, the liturgical views and practices of both the Western and Eastern world, and a brief history of art as it concerns the angelic realm (not to mention concluding with a charming personal piece!). Satan and his angels are also covered as part of this work, and, as a result, the book then touches on not just angels and demons but sin, the purpose of humanity and its salvation, the nature of time and the afterlife, free-will and eternity, etc. Because angels reflect the glory of God, it makes sense then that a book about them should also reflect everything about the God they serve, though on a smaller scale. Indeed, this book, in discussing angels, also gives the reader an introduction to everything Christian whether it's art, history, theology, important authors, and influential writings.
I absolutely do not look at life the same way after reading this book. It puts everything into perspective on both the grand and personal scale. At various moments I've had to put it down just because I could not take any more depth and beauty without first chewing on what was already given to me.
It is not a technical read, though some parts, especially quotes from the Church Fathers, do get a little complex. It is a deep book though. Though it's style is written for the layperson, you will still find yourself going through it slowly just because its ideas are so profound. Though definitely written from an Orthodox perspective, it works hard to include all viewpoints and present something any Christian could pick up and understand, though it will definitely challenge the reader who isn't mystically-inclined or at the very least open-minded about the spiritual realm. Be prepared to see everything differently and to experience a very real joy and awe as you go through this book. It is so comforting and uplifting to the human spirit and so reflective of God's grace, power, and love, I cannot recommend it enough! If anything about the book's description draws you, go read it. You will not be disappointed.
