I really enjoyed this book. I enjoyed its narrative, its deep personal touch, and the way that Carlson showed how conversion isn't always linear, but often a series of up-and-down struggles.

This book changed my life. It is easy to read and easy to understand, but so incredibly full of meaning that it took me several months to read and assimilate its contents. By the time I was half of the way through, I knew my life would never be the same. Thank you, Father Patrick.

Wonderful book. Enjoyed it so much I finished it in 2 days. I went through grade school and high school and had many laughs on the memories she shared in her book. Great read written by a very strong woman. Can't wait for her next book

Blueprints for the Little Church: Creating an Orthodox Home
This is a fantastic resource for Orthodox families! Should be required reading for all new parents and a great refresher course for those with older kids too. The authors offer practical advice laced with quotes from Scripture and the Church Fathers, as well as examples from actual families on how they implement Orthodox practices in the home. It is a very readable book, especially for bleary eyed, tired parents who don't have much time to read.

As an evangelical with little prior knowledge of how little I really know, this book has brought illumination. I highly recommend this to everyone who has been taught to think of the atonement only in terms of placating God's wrath.

Unless I am misinformed, a very good explanation of the importance of the Incarnation, and its implications, for lay people.

I have read many books in an effort to better understand the Psalms, but this is far and away my favorite. The author reveals a good deal of wisdom in each psalm. When I reached the 151st Psalm* I was considering going through the book again and reading much slower, more reflectively. That'll be for the next reading.
* 151st Psalm, yes, you read it right. Apparently there are 151 Psalms in the Septuagint and Reardon is an Orthodox priest.

Warm and inspiring, this book tells it like it is--Eastern Orthodox Christianity is not an easy, ninety-minutes-on-Sunday kind of religion. The women who converted tell of their trials with "the length of the Orthodox services . . . . Going to church TWICE?" and many other demands that Orthodox Christianity imposes. However, these are obviously happy, fulfilled women, regardless of the length of the service! I wish that Virginia Nieuwsma had found even just one example of a really old woman converting, but the book is still a solid five stars for me.

This book is a must read for any christian parent looking for ways to incorporate Orthodox Christianity at home. The chapter on church services and parish life would be excellent for everyone in the orthodox church to read because it reminds us that children and families struggle in church but that we should ultimately be loving, forgiving and lead the way through example. "Our challenge is to firmly and lovingly guide our children without becoming angry or distracted from our own prayerful liturgical experience." She also talks about how to bring church home, create an icon corner, and how to pray and fast together as a family. The last portion of the book she includes some activities you can do with your family through the liturgical year, including small crafts and lessons that can be done with children on special feast days. It is definitely a book you can re-read and use throughout the years for encouragement and inspiration.

Becoming a Healing Presence
This book speaks volumes. It is precisely what Christ came to do and to instill in us HEALING. He heals us, so that we can become healers, and heal others. Dr. Rossi also has a podcast in iTunes that I would highly recommend as well which is a continuation of steam of consciousness that this book starts.
