Everywhere Present: Christianity in a One-Storey Universe
A wonderful corrective for those who have come to live their lives as if God is removed from the ordinary and everyday of life.

Thirsting For God in a Land of Shallow Wells
Archimandrite Meletios is an Orthodox priest as well as as a psychotherapist . In " Bread and Water Wine and Oil " he presents a tightly woven two part book built around one word ... Mystery . We enter into the divine and the human by means of the four simple things in the book's title . It takes us on an in depth journey of amazing loveliness . Any chapter can stand on its own as well as fit into the whole . This book will serve as an understanding of Eastern Christianity for people who know only the Western model .

Orthodoxy As A Contemporary Church
Know the Faith: A Handbook for Orthodox Christians and Inquirers
As an Orthodox Christian I often hear from peers the phrase "Orthodox Christianity : Proclaiming the Truth Since 33AD". Know The Faith is a scholarly work that sets out the real differences between the "first church" and those churches that were established as a result of someome getting angry with the faith ( Luther, Henry VIII, WESLEY, THE Orthodox Patriarch of Rome). The book further sets out why this ancient faith (Orthodoxy) steeped in tradition and unchanged is paradoxically more timely today than those faiths which have subordinated the tradition of the church to popular ideologies , secular fashion and political agendae. Anyone questioning the absence of validity of true Christian precepts in their current church will find this a compelling read.

Can't get much better than this!
Reclaiming the Atonement, Volume 1: The Incarnate Word
First of all, I would like to say that I am not an Eastern Orthodox guy. I'm just a ragamuffin guy who would be labeled somewhere between a Lutheran and an Anglican (I literally call myself a Lutheran Anglican). I've always enjoyed reading different views of the atonement. To be honest, the western view of penal substitution really didn't sit well with me because I felt it was lacking. It's not that I don't believe that it is one aspect of the atonement, but that it doesn't represent the full picture. Fr. Patrick Henry Reardon does a great job breaking down the atonement going back all the way to the scriptures and the early church. If you are unfamiliar with Christian doctrine, this may be a dry read. But if you enjoy theology and atonement theories in particular, you will love it, even if you don't 100% agree with him. In the book, he was very humble to those he disagreed with. He always sought common ground before laying out the critique, as well as the viewpoint of the Eastern Orthodoxy. If more Christians wrote like him, I guarantee some of these silly arguments and debates would be much more cordial. I tip my hat to Fr. Reardon for a very special book. This Lutheran Anglican highly recommends everyone read it, whether you are from the western view, or even the eastern viewpoints.

Wonderful book that makes fasting easy
Food, Faith, and Fasting: A Sacred Journey to Better Health
Wonderful book that makes fasting easy and brings you back to what really matters. Gives practical tips of how to eat right and connect with your food again and why we eat. The spiritual lookout is very calming and peaceful. The author is humorous and caring. Great recipes in the back. Recommend to anyone looking for a reset or refreshing look on faith and eating with purpose.

The Gospel of Luke: Good News for the Poor
I am absolutely in love with Fr. Farley's books. They have opened up the scriptures for me in a way no other commentary has.

Blueprints for the Little Church: Creating an Orthodox Home
As catechumens in the church the down to earth style of the authors describing how different aspects work within the church and in the little church of the home has been very encouraging. The authors don't say there are any must do's but that we are all at different spots in our journeys and to let God lead us and to always consult your Priest. Thank you Elissa Bjeletich & Caleb Shoemaker.

Love it
The Ancient Faith Psalter
Although I have always loved the Psalter According to the Seventy published by Holy Transformation Monastery this new version of the psalter by Ancient Faith Publication is wonderful. This is a more contemporary translation and offers a Kindle version. Ancient Faith Publication also plans to print both paper book or leather hard book versions.
Just comment on an earlier review. The reviewer thought that psalm 120 (119) was missing, etc. However the Ancient Faith Publication psalter does not numerical listing of psalms but instead lists the prayers for the week of matins and vespers.

The Orthodox Study Bible, Ancient Faith Edition, Leathersoft: Ancient Christianity Speaks to Today’s World
As a protestant in the KJV tradition interested in the ancient Christian faith I had purchase the standard hardcover of the OSB a couple of years ago. I enjoy and appreciate the translation of the LXX and the Orthodox study notes, especially the insightful Christological approach to the OT. The physical quality of the hardcover is okay, but when I saw this beautiful leather touch bound Ancient Faith edition was available I had to have it. For the price I could not be more pleased with the physical beauty of this Bible. The lovely supple reddish-brown cover with the brilliant gold guilding and lettering and design on the cover are just gorgeous. A good quality yellow-gold ribbon marker and nice India paper for the pages completes the appeal. Physically this is one of my most attractive and favorite Bibles. I plan to give my well-cared-for hardcopy to someone else. I think I will get many years of enjoyment out of reading from this Bible, and I am in the process of reading the text and notes all the way through again. When new the edges of the pages tended to stick together a little bit as I have seen on other Chinese printed Bibles (although nowhere near as bad). Was a fun excuse to thumb throught the entire volume again. Truly this is a beautiful edition of the Bible and the OSB in particular at an affordable price, well done!

Accessible Book With Substance and Grace
Blueprints for the Little Church: Creating an Orthodox Home
We're reading this book as our parent book study at church. It's laid out with such simplicity and grace that it's easy for everyone to understand, yet it delves into some pretty deep subjects about the sacramentality of family life. I highly recommend this for Christian families wanting to connect with God in their homes as well as church. While it's written for Orthodox Christians, I think that my Roman Catholic, Episcopalian, Anglican, Lutheran, Mennonite, Moravian, and Methodist friends might also get a great deal out of it.

The Scent of Holiness: Lessons from a Women's Monastery
Simply written. Easy to understand but some very deep points presented concisely. AND quite funny at times. Read it quite quickly because it kept my attention quite well...which is rare for me.

Outstanding concise explanation of the liturgy
Come, Let Us Worship: A Practical Guide to the Divine Liturgy for Orthodox Laity
This book is particularly valuable for new Orthodox Christians who want a guide to understanding the meaning of the parts of the liturgy, which often seems so strange and incomprehensible. My wife and I both found this little guide extremely valuable and highly recommend it.
