Wonderful story for young girls of faith. It will encourage readers in the virtues of Christianity / Orthodoxy by reading of this young woman's giving heart. A rare and beautiful true story.

Excellent book reading for second time.

I've long been intrigued by the Orthodox faith. It was refreshing to read of others who have journeyed before me and wrestled with similar questions.

This is one of the best books I found while I was looking for the right religion. It answered many question I had at that time (because I was influenced by Protestant ideas).

One of the best books I have ever read

I read this slowly enjoying the great writing and the sharing of the authors inner emotional and psychological struggles that touched on some of my own. I finished feeling grateful for this story well crafted.

I needed this book. I have been protestant since 1982 and, in the last few years, have been looking into Orthodoxy. This journey really began after I studied church history and discovered something other than Roman Catholicism prior to Martin Luther.

This book covered every major point of doctrine that I needed to understand and the author uses many scriptures and early church writings to support his points.

I was struck by the irenic, not polemic, tone and the gracious attitude in his words. I strongly recommend this book to anyone interested in learning more about Orthodoxy.

I bought this book directly from the publisher rather than Amazon.

Great follow up to the Gospel according to Saint Luke. Excellent commentary on Acts from an Eastern Orthodox priest. The more I read Fr. Farley's work, the more I like him.

Perfect for Protestants & Christians looking for more. This book changed my life!

Love this book. Must read for any parent who wants their kids to be Christians.

Practical, loving, effective, and theologically-sound synthesis of the truth that has always been there for Orthodox Christians. This has changed my perspective on parenting and allowed me to take the vision of who I want to be as a parent and see it in the context of our salvation as Christians. I am thankful for the reminder to delight in my children (and my whole family) and my opportunity to serve them. Dr. Mamalakis does this without unproductive judgement or criticism but WITH and empathic challenge to do better. The truth of the spiritual life is that we all must strive harder and this book has helped me see the path on days where I tend to go into the tunnel of part-inherited/part-spiritual TERRIBLE parenting. The basic formula of connecting/empathizing with your children, setting firm boundaries, and REALLY journeying with them through life, trying always to be an icon of Christ's love...it is right, and it works. Gives married people a lot of perspective on their relationship with each other as well. I have already recommended this book to friends, even several non-Orthodox (and non-Christian) that I think could glean much good from it. It is neither "preachy" nor self-righteous, but compassionate and frank. Thank you for this very human approach to this very great and divine work we have set before us! May the Lord bless you for it and may God help us!

Like another reviewer said, I have several prayer books already... a collection you might say:-) However, this book is different and a refreshing change. Modernized language, but still retaining the beauty of the prayers; and using You as opposed to Thee/Thou. For each time of prayer, morning, evening, etc., there is a mix of beautiful prayers and Psalms. The "directions" are reassuring as well: say one or as many of these as you are able. There are prayers from the Horologian as well. Very well done! I like my iBooks version best though; it's portable, and looking at a page at a time on iBooks keeps it from being overwhelming; like I sometimes feel with a physical book. You can't easily tell how many pages more you have to go....

Great study book.

His command of Old and New Testament sources as well as the Church Fathers is truly amazing. I found his book absolutely profoun. I find Father Reardon an outstanding writer. His command of Old and New Testament sources as well as the Church Fathers is truly amazing. I found his book absolutely profound and am so glad that I discovered it.

Lovely edition; other reviewer is wrong; Psalms are not "missing." 118 is the last Psalm in the book, because the Psalms are arranged according to how they are assigned over the course of the week in the Orthodox Church; not in order of 1-150.

Most illuminating study.

Edifying Orthodox Christian meditations take you through a whole year; very good to keep you on your spiritual toes.

This book is a true gem.Firstly, the book is visually beautiful. It's full of color, iconography and various sections that are very well organized.Secondly, the content is sublime. The book provides insights about the festal icons, concise narrations of the stories, biblical citations from the festal Matins and Vespers services, festal hymns, Old Testament connections with the feasts, patristic homiletics, and multiple life application sections. Each section in the book also features a beautiful picture of and information about a Church or Monastery bearing the name of the feast. This is truly one of the most beautiful Orthodox books, both in content and appearance, that I have been graced with. Thank you John Skinas!

I love the variety and simplicity with which Fr. Tryphone address every day events and encounters. Simple yet deep and brings the presence/teachings of Christ in our everyday life.
