Thinking Orthodox: Understanding and Acquiring the Orthodox Christian Mind
This is an absolutely amazing book that has answered so many of my internal questions about all the facets of our Orthodox faith and how to align ourselves to it with confidence. I learned this through a zoom Faith Enrichment class given by Fr. Michael Prevas, Proestamos at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox in Northridge CA. I receive Dr. Jeannie’s email Newsletter and I’m a subscriber to her “Search the Scriptures” on Ancient Faith. And best of all, we finished this book just in time to experience Holy Week with an Orthodox Christian Mind. Kalo Pascha…

A Child's Guide to Confession
So well written and thought out for children who need to understand this mystery, so that they can be blessed when they go for the first time, and for reminders thereafter! Loved the simplicity, and even great for older children and adults!

The Vestibule of Heaven
This was a well written ghost story. The plot is strong, and the main characters are multi-dimensional. It was a really good read.

Raising Them Right: A Saint’s Advice on Raising Children
Funnily enough, I saw this in a non-Orthodox church: it was read by a mom reading club. I decided to buy the book, and it was a nice little neat book about. As the title says, it is about rising kids. The saint provides insights for parents, even before the child is born. Highly recommend.

One of the best parenting books I've read. I have a hard time reading books these days. I either don't have time or fall asleep from the lack of engagement. This book really draws you in with real life examples/stories and practical solutions to problems. He doesn't make you feel like a bad parent because you reacted to a situation on the wrong way, but helps equip you with the correct tools to make changes in how we respond. I recommend this book to anyone looking to be a better parent. Your children deserve that. :)

A Child's Guide to Vespers
We have the other three books in this series and were excited to check this one out. It does a great job of simplifying what's going on for young kids who might zone out during the psalms. I especially liked the sections in the back, actually. There's the rotating hymnography, evening prayers, and a "More to Know" section with interesting facts like what various symbols signify in icons.
The illustrations depict a variety of ethnicities and family structures, including families of various sizes and grandparents attending vespers with their grandchildren. I appreciate the diversity because our parish has converts from a wide range of backgrounds.
My nine year old really enjoyed looking through this book and thinks it will help her follow along at vespers and my two year old has fun flipping through the pictures. I think this book will be helpful for a wide range of ages.

The Scent of Holiness: Lessons from a Women's Monastery
This book is about a convert's monastery experiences. Some of the stories don't really add anything, but many are thought provoking, entertaining, or full of wisdom. I can't wait for my first monastery visit now.

A Child's Guide to Vespers
This little book is more than just a guide to the Vespers service. It has the guide to Vespers in a similar fashion to the Liturgy guide book in this series; but, it also has sections with evening prayers, the meaning of colors and other elements in iconography, and other prayers helpful for children. We now have 3 books from this series and I feel like with all the extra tidbits added to each guide it is becoming a little set of encyclopedia about Orthodoxy for young children. I’ve been surprised at how much my children, from the 2 year old to the 9 year old, use the Liturgy guide and I’m excited for them to have this guide to help them through Vespers.

The Orthodox Study Bible, Ancient Faith Edition, Leathersoft: Ancient Christianity Speaks to Today’s World
Excellent bible for daily use and introducing the Orthodox Faith. It's not overly weighted down with markings in the text, nor does it have all the cross-references that most people don't use anyway. I love the Morning and Evening prayers, the Icons, the lectionary year with readings, etc. Enough to get you headed in the right direction towards Christ and his Body. I'm a former Protestant and I've had a few Study Bibles. This is my favorite! Thank you, Ancient Faith!

What Do You See at Liturgy? (board book)
As a member of the church council at St. Nicholas in Toronto, I bought two copies of this book to keep by the candles during Sunday services. It's easy for kids to handle and a lovely read. The children enjoy it very much and it keeps them engaged during the service. A great addition to our church!
