Kershaw Heist (KE-2037)
This is a great knife, excellent build quality and a spectacular material list or a good price, even better price in the US as opposed to our extremely marked up stuff in Canada. But with that being said, still extremely happy to be able to get my hands on one has the Canadian government is infringing on our right as free Citizen

Great idea, one of the best things about knives (use and hobby) is they are endlessly customizable!

I loved it, I have it on my k chain, the only thing is, it is too expensive, or I would buy more for my daughters and girl friends.

For a similar charm and a less hit on the wallet you could get em the bug, small enough to wear as a necklace!

Cold Steel Bushman (CS-95BUSK)
Awesome budget survival knife! The knife is surprisingly comfortable to chop bushes and saplings despite the offset blade. The handle kicks up when batoning wood and requires a bit more effort to keep the blade level. Making a spear out of the Bushman and throwing it around is tons of fun. It would be cool to hunt with this! The sheath feels cheap and flimsy, but comes with a ferro rod. Despite some of the flaws, the knife offers so much and you can NOT beat the price. Pick this up when it's on sale!

Absolute classic. A top EDC and a piece of fidgeting heaven. Hats off to HOK. They sent me a well made well adjusted 940-1 that performs perfectly. Looking forward to doing business with them again.

Kizer Towser K Blue Richlite (V4593C1)
The Kizer Towser K is described in marketing copy as a "folding santoku", which is actually a fairly succinct characterization of its design. The combination of the knife's blade shape—halfway between a cleaver & a sheepsfoot—and the angle & shape of the handle places the user's fingers above the line of the cutting edge, optimizing the Towser K for making rocking cuts, slicing, and light chopping against a flat surface such as a chopping board.
But while the Towser K works better at food prep than your typical folder, it has neither the ultra-thin stock nor the blade length to be a full-time alternative to a fixed-blade utility kitchen knife, especially since its lock mechanism & caged ball bearings would be quickly gunked up under serious kitchen use.
Speaking of its ball bearings: the Towser K uses multiple rows of caged ball bearings in its pivot instead of the usual single row. This results in the smoothest action I've ever experienced in a folding knife. And I've handled a lot of folders in my time. Even with the pivot screw cranked down to the tightest it will go, the blade still drops like a guillotine (the mass of the blade adds to this effect, I am sure). For folding knife enthusiasts who fixate on "drop-shuttiness", this might be the ultimate option.
This particular variant of the Azo Mai-designed model comes with handle scales made from Richlite. Richlite is a very durable & stable recycled paper-based composite commonly used as a countertop material & as surfacing for skateboard ramps. While the material itself doesn't feel particularly "grippy", the scales' machined texture pattern provides more than enough friction to keep the knife securely in hand while in use, even when wet.
All in all, the Towser K is a solid utility cutter with a unique blend of features, & is a good option for those looking for a more idiosyncratic EDC knife.

Kizer Shard Micarta (V2531N2)
Lovely little knife. It was *going* to be my jean-pocket EDC, and it would have been great. Unfortunately, I managed to misplace it within days of receiving it :-(
I'm sure the pesky little thing will turn up...
{later}
And yes, I have another little knife on the way, so of course the Shard *did* show up. Sigh ;-)

MKM Malga 6 Natural Micarta (MK MP06-NC)
Victorinox makes excellent knives for the money, but the blade steel is a bit soft. I love having a swiss army-style knife with a powder-metallurgy M390 blade instead. I was very happy to find the corkscrew will hold the Victorinox mini tools too.
There are a few things that could be better about the Malga though. The only "issue" I found was that the main blade closes slightly too deep on mine, making it hard to access the nail nick. It's ok, I can still get the blade out, it just takes a more deliberate action than on a Victorinox. It's also worth noting the awl isn't sharpened. It will work as an impromptu rough sewing implement, but won't drill holes in wood like a Victorinox SAK.
In some respects, the Malga just proves how great a Victorinox SAK is for the money - but if you're willing to pay more for a fancy main blade with much better edge-retention and some micarta scales then this is the knife for you!

Kershaw Blur Black (1670BLK)
Knife is awesome. My only concern is the locking mechanism. On my particular knife the lock doesn't engage completely. I feel it wouldn't take much for the blade to close . The locking tab barely covers a quarter of the blade. Besides that the knife is great.
Response from House of Knives
Sep 08, 2023
Glad you like the knife, and to hopefully comfort that worry, most liner locks dont go much farther then a quarter. You can definitely try loosening the main pivot a quarter turn and that might allow it to go over a bit if youd prefer though!
