Grippy, stylish scales, serious steel, compact size. This is a perfect balance for someone who wants cutting power and reliability, but in a discreet package. Larger than a fifth pocket knife but slightly smaller than your average EDC, the Marten is an excellent pick, even moreso if you don't plan on owning 50 differents knives for all imaginable occasions.

I purchased this as a gift for a coworker, however, it was quite nice. Lightweight, very smooth operation. Felt well put together. Only complaint would be the edge retention doesn't seem very good. Not sure if the steel is just not as hard as what I'm used to, but he's already damaged it. It sharpened quite easily on my worksharp pocket sharpener, even though I've worn the diamond pretty much off of it after many years. Overall I feel it was worth it and plan to get some Vosteed knives for myself.

If you're looking for an affordable knife that you can rely on, look no further than the Kershaw Layup.
The opening mechanism works very well and with a little adjustment you can easily open and close the knife with one hand.
I'm giving it a 4-star rating because the handle material seems a bit on the cheap side, but everything else is of comparable quality to knives twice as expensive from brands like Benchmade and Spyderco.

I can understand what you mean, GFN can feel like perhaps less but its shockingly strong for its thinness which helps keep it nice and light for EDC. glad you like it!

The liner lock might loosen up with some use, they tend to come tight from the factory. But if you give it some use and tlc it should become a one hander!
