We tried out the Wusthof classic Icon knives at the House of Knives in Nanaimo. The staff was very helpful and knowledgable about the product. It solidified our decision to buy. We ended up ordering everything online as many of the knives were only available online. Our order went in on a Friday, and we picked everything up on Wednesday. The knives were well packaged and in perfect condition.

Great selection and I have been eyeing a particular knife for a little while now and have seen it at other vendors but at an elevated price. Once I checked HoK, it was an easy choice to buy from them. Past experience has taught me well, so they are my preferred vendor.
The knife was in stock and at a sale price slightly better than competitors. It arrived quickly and completely perfect! (minor miracles, since it shipped Canada Post)

Anything I really wanted was out of stock. I realize only so many knives go to any one store or location, but very annoying. It's like getting concert tickets... if you're not in an advance line waiting, you're **** out of luck. This review is not for the customer service, but availability. I have yet to receive my knife to give an opinion.

I found the online shopping experience very awkward, specifically not being able to easily designate in-store pickup. It took 3 phone calls to customer service to ascertain that I had to enter a fictitious shipping address so that the online form would then allow me to select the store nearest to me (Nanaimo) for personal pickup. Customer service staff were most helpful, by the way, but it still meant I had to give a false shipping address which felt weird. That surely needs sorting! An option for in-store pickup right next to where one enters one's billing address would make all kinds of sense.
Other than that ... very fast delivery to the store. House of Knives product selection is pretty good and I am a previous customer for in-store items. My purchase this time -- an Opinel #7 in carbon steel to replace one lost in the bush -- needs little further comment. Opinels are IMO the ultimate distillation of form and function. Simple, strong, very reasonably priced and aesthetically pleasing. Perfect inobtrusive EDC.

My experience with HOK has consistently been excellent. The CJRB Pyrite in S90V is an outstanding budget knife with a killer steel upgrade. I own knives across a wide range of price points, and the Pyrite has always stood out as one of the best budget knives. I’ve purchased several, including a few as gifts. Getting another one in S90V made the decision easy. This is a fantastic knife that punches well above its weight class.
