I only use the possibility to change all tags on the fly.
Categorizing the music in dance, speed and feel.
Since 15 or so years. Maybe longer I work with jaikoz.
Aif or flac from TangoTunes or Bandcamp, m4a from I-Tunes. Everything can be loaded. The changes can be seen directly via Virtual DJ.

I purchased SongKong to allow me to tag my Naim Uniti Core WAV files. It was obviously a big mistake to rip them as WAV files, but was fed mis-information at the time.
SongKong was able to attach Metadata, including the nearly 50 albums that had no online metadata available and were tagged completely manually in the Naim app.
I had a few issues with artwork, but I think that was due to my settings.
So, I now have nearly 1200 tagged WAV file rips that can be used outside the Naim ecosystem if ever needed. Thanks!

I used the lite version, which wouldn't save changes, to see if SongKong would work for my specific needs and requirements, which I admit is overkill for most. After posting in the forums the dev did respond and answered my question but said the reason the script wasn't working was because I was using the free version, which made sense. Unfortunately even after purchasing a license it's still not working as intended even though the developer said it would. I also just noticed the catalogue numbers are incorrect even though I select match to one album and select the correct catalog number.
Again this is a great product that I would recommend as it pulls the most metadata than any other free or paid app and does it incredibly quickly. It's just not for me.

It's great that these applications exist. The promise is to make a digital collection as robust as physical, replete with metadata and consistent tagging.
That said, as I write I have mixed feelings about SongKong.
My laptop may not have been the most robust appliance, so the process took far longer than I preferred and presumably will be a better experience with better IT. But a lot of time was spent having to goof around with the settings menu, and even then the tagging seemed to enter into domains (genre, release year) that I preferred be left alone. I'm not 100% happy with the end result, as some of the tags disassemble albums from their existing tags. I'd go as far as to say you still need to actively monitor your tags, both before and after the SongKong sweep, and that the software ain't set-and-forget.
But there is a lot to like: I could never have found the data nor the time to enter what SongKong can do in its sweep. I think it was a reasonable amount of money spent for its input (sixty dollars or so could buy better applications, for example MediaMonkey): I'm happy with the outcome with the abovementioned caveats.
PS if you do have questions, Paul the dev is right on the ball, and this alone makes the experience positive. I'd say it's a three-star-app without this support.

Top Index Software - Best I’ve Used

SongKong
SongKong’s comprehensive indexing provided a far, far better library of my music collection than any software previously purchased. Although it’s not perfect the ability to fix any oversights is excellent. The use of multiple data sources gives very rich metadata that I have then used to set up different ‘libraries’ by genre, particularly useful for Classical music where I now have a super-accessible library, something previously difficult to achieve.
A technically capable powerful piece of music software that’s done what I needed.
I’d recommend this to anyone with a large digital music library.

SongKong
Hi Paul, I am very pleased with my purchase of SongKong so far. I have a large collection of 220,000 songs, or 4.2 TB. I think it performed brilliantly at first, especially with the first run of the Status Report. It worked great going through my library fixing and renaming songs till I got to the letter P, about. Thereafter it was much slower.
So I have two points: 1) Recommend people fix and rename up to 5000 songs in a batch process, so it doesn't get overloaded and it's easier to undo changes etc as you go along; and 2) find some way to save the database file to the external drive where the main media library file is located, that way it doesn't tie up or clog up the main internal drive. Export a bootable or actionable database to the external drive, to which the database manager on the internal drive refers to, or points to.
I know nothing about computers so I may be out on a limb here. I am assuming that this database file is a large one that requires a fair deal of RAM and application memory as it is processing.
Overall a great product. I have been looking for something like my favoured chestnut TuneUp ever since it kicked the bucket in 2013. Please keep supporting digital music lovers everywhere! You're providing a very dear and valuable service! Thanks,

Hi Joshua, thankyou for the postive feedback. SongKong usually works on files at a folder level so only the files actually being worked on at the time are held in memory allowing it in theory to be used on a library of any size, but there is some global data (such as counters) that does increase over time and this may slow things down if memory usage is getting near limit. Also if you hard-drive is getting full this can slow things down, both the database and reports can take up alot of space. Now you can already move them to a different location using links, for example here is a solution for Windows https://community.jthink.net/t/how-do-i-move-songkong-database-to-a-different-location-in-windows/9283 and one for MacOS https://community.jthink.net/t/how-do-i-move-songkong-database-to-different-location-on-macos/9284 but I agree that it would better if this could be done simply within SongKong itself and have an issue raised for this https://jthink.atlassian.net/browse/SONGKONG-2891

Solid application, could use a bit of refinement

SongKong
First of all, it's a solid application. It has a lot of features and customization, while retaining its ease of use. The only feedback points I would give, are the following:
- After clicking on one of the menus (monitor watch folder) there is a 'start' button. But it does not start anything, it only starts when you click the next start button. (So rename it to 'continue' instead)
- The monitor watch folder function makes the docker crash after a few days (even when no new songs have been added), with an OOM error in docker. This can indicate a possible memory leak.
- It's a little too expensive, especially for more casual users like me.

Hi Patrick, thankyou for the review an useful feedback. I take your point about 'start' button, in fact plan a more substantial change to this please see https://jthink.atlassian.net/browse/SONGKONG-2845. Regarding Monitor Watch Folder yo may be right could you please run Create Support Files, wrt cost if you value your time than when you consider how much of your time can be saved using SongKong it is good value even more so if have a large music colection.

Jaikoz
Just writing a follow-up to my previous review (below). I had had a problem with Jaikoz and presented it to the team. In less than 24 hours, they responded to me providing a few steps to correct the issue I was having. That's great customer service! I upgraded my rating to 5 stars. Thanks, Jaikoz team!!
I've used Jaikoz before. It became time to get my music collection back into some order, so I repurchased Jaikoz. It did a good job on tags and album art, etc. But it went ahead and renamed many files and even grouped them into new folders. It completely upset the order of my music, apparently splitting albums and slipping songs into folders that were oddly named by some other tag.
My question is: Can we get Jaikoz to correct art and tags but NOT let it rename files. I'm sure there's a way. I looked through your forums and didn't see anything about that. I went through every menu option, but didn't find a way to do that. Can you point me in the right direction to have file names and folder unchanged? Thanks.

Hi Louis, yes so i think you ran the Autocorrecter and by default this is configured to correct metadata from MusicBrainz and Discogs and then Rename Files and Folders although nothing is actually modified until you select Save. You can modify the Autocorrecter configuration in Preferences:Manipulators:Autocorrector, just need to remove Correct SubFolder form Metadata and Correct Filename from Metadata from the Autocotrrecter Tasks list and then running Autocorrect witll not rename files to match new metadata.

I had a large, complex library of disorganized music files. SongKong safely cleaned most tags and organized most folders quickly. It works well, but not perfectly. For example, I couldn't automatically sort classical music by composer without separating albums. Some manual editing is still required. Nonetheless, SongKong is easy to use and well supported. The developer, Paul, provides prompt and informative advice if you have questions.

David, thank you for your review. The issue with grouping albums by Classical is an issue for those album with Works by different composers but I am working a on a solution to this that adds a new Album Composer field that you can use for your rename mask because it is consistent for all tracks on an album.

Unfortunately, SK was unable to ID about a third of my collection of 6,000+ songs, many of which should have been easy. They were almost all Great American Songbook. And for those that were ID’d, many were only by composer and didn’t include lyricist. I worked with Gemini to try every combo of controls to get more hits out of SK. So this was a disappointment., after many hours of work I also had problems, possibly due to my not fully how to use SK, with having song titles changed to include track or other meaningless numbers that glopped up my carefully created song title system and made it harder to sort by alpha. Again, this may have been due to my lack of mastery of the program, however, but I sure didn’t see any warning or options that would have prevented a very labor instensive correction process.

Hi John, would you like some help with this, I offer one to one help for customers for free, all you need to do is create a post on the forum, and run Admin:Create Support Files so I can see your logs and reports. When you say that 'song titles changed to include tracknos or other meaningless numbers' SongKong doesn't add tracks to song titles so I am thinking that maybe you mean the filename and have run Rename Files task and you don't like the rename mask being used, rename masks can be changed and it is easy to select a different rename mask and rename your files again to a format that you require, anyway I'm available to help as required

SongKong for Analog-to-Digital Workflows
Digitizing a legacy cassette collection is an arduous undertaking that frequently stalls at the metadata entry phase. After the labour-intensive process of recording individual tracks, the prospect of manual tagging can be overwhelming. SongKong has proven to be an indispensable asset in this "labour of love" for several key reasons:
Sophisticated Acoustic Analysis: The software’s ability to "thoughtfully" analyze raw audio captures and match them against massive databases is remarkable. It consistently identifies tracks with high precision, even when dealing with the inherent sonic variables of aged tape.
Automated Metadata Enrichment: Beyond simple identification, SongKong populates comprehensive metadata fields, transforming a folder of anonymous files into a structured, searchable library.
Hybrid Workflow Support: One of the most significant advantages is the flexibility it provides in playlist curation. Whether I am organizing the original digitized tape tracks or using the identified metadata to locate high-bitrate "pristine" versions on major streaming services, the software bridges the gap between analog nostalgia and digital convenience.
Efficiency at Scale: By automating the identification process, SongKong resolves the "exhaustion" of manual entry, making the daunting task of digitizing a large collection actually sustainable.
Verdict: For anyone serious about reclaiming their analog history, SongKong is a superlative tool that fills the critical gaps in the archiving process. Highly recommended.
