I’m very happy with my BBSHD conversion on my old GT STS dual suspension mountain bike. The trails in my area have many hills that I couldn’t climb without help from the electric motor. With the Luna kit I have expanded my trail opportunities and travel distance. The hardest part of the build was determining which options to purchase and then finding out they were out of stock. I wasn’t sure if the 68-73 mm motor would fit my 73 mm BB since some drive side spacers would also be required to clear the chain stay. The decision to buy the 100 mm motor was made for me since the 68-73 mm was out of stock. I ended up needing 5mm of drive side spacers, so the 68-73 probably would have worked. Since I was more interested in climbing than speed, I went with the 42T Eclipse chainring. The Eclipse gave the best chain alignment and I re-arranged the rear sprockets on the cassette too use the four largest, 40-24T. Top speed is about 24 mph and is good for my use. I went with the DPC07 display since it was the only one in stock. It works fine and is easy to read. There are 5 levels of assist and I tend to only use 1-3. I went with Hot Rod programming but with my gearing that was probably overkill since I haven’t been using assist levels 4 & 5. Finding a battery to fit inside the frame triangle was also a problem. The Wolf V2 would have fit but was also out of stock. I found a brick style battery 52V 16AH from Bicycle Motor Works that fit. I built a sheet metal tray to mount the battery and lined the tray with weatherstrip foam to cushion the battery. I rated the Luna kit 4 stars because the BaFang spindle was poorly machined. The left crank is tight and does not fit all the way on. That spaced the left crank an extra 5 mm wider on the already wide 100 mm motor. I’m confident it’s the spindle since I also tried the bike’s original Shimano crank and it showed the same problem.

Pure motorcycle guy, from 50cc to 390cc to 600cc, but I knew as soon as I saw this bike (and checked the specs/aftermarket/community) that I would buy this. Nothing else like it, the torque alone will blow your biker friends away, but overall an incredibly practical and fun mix of a stylish and capable commuter/offroad electric mountain bike. Already modded mine to the max, easily best purchase of my life, even after 10+ motorcycles. Super comfortable ride and does 45mph no problem after battery break-in. The guys at Lunacycle are relaxed and very knowledgeable, 10/10 might buy another :D

There are two very popular 750W mid drive kits that have dominated the DIY conversion market, Bafang BBSXX & the TSDZ2. Guess which one produces more power. The Bafang is the wheelie popping king. Big thanks to Luna for being the premier Bafang mid drive seller.

After riding a Bafang front hub drive for a few months, I got the itch to remove that and install a BBS02. Since there’s already a Bafang brand display, throttle and mechanical ebrake levers from the hub kit, the mid motor installation was quick and the bike was ready to ride. Buying a BBS02 as a bare bones kit have been an economical and faster way to convert from hub motor to mid drive ebiking.

The shirt will have those interested asking where can they get that shirt….Who knows, maybe they’ll poke around the Luna Cycle website and become fascinated by ebike culture.

I have a cube battery and was going back and forth trying decide on the triangle bag or a seat bag. I went with the triangle, not because it is roomier, though that’s a plus, but because on a red bike the black bag stands out and gets the attention of other bike riders. Yes, when I roll up at an intersection I want the other rider to look over and see my bike and EBIKE arises in his consciousness. Another thing is, I paid in having a bag with the Luna Cycle name on it therefore spreading the Luna brand everywhere I ride.

Oh btw, bag is of excellent material construction and well put together with interior straps to hold triangle and rectangle packs in place.

Stabilizer bar is critical if you ride single track trails. Really should be standard part of any kit as the stock tightening system is not strong enough.

Solid and feels well made. I use my charger daily, the ability to limit the charge to 89-90% makes it easy for recommended charging.

Love love love it! The secret controller made my bike a whole different animal. I would ride it everyday if I could. Definitely recommend buying one to take your bbshd to the next level.

Instructions and hardware were severely lacking. Received an extra 2 washers, and was missing two bolts. Plus the snowflake I talked to over the phone about back ordered parts seemed too busy licking his vape pen to help me out. Otherwise the parts are fine.

Was shipped very quickly without any damage.

I’ve always had good luck with Luna bikes . I just added the full volt 860 C display to my Luna X1 ludicrous. This is a very worthwhile addition makes tracking your ride and wattage along with battery level lot easier.

This is the second Bafang mid-drive kit I've bought and the first from Luna. I received the order quickly with exactly what was ordered. They had obviously opened everything up, checked it out, and programmed the controller as requested. The repackaging was excellent with extra parts I ordered worked in to the boxes. The kit installed without a hitch and is working great. I need to hook up the PC to the controller and check the programming as this bike with a BBS02 is torquier than the one I put a BBSHD on. Definitely support a great American small business and buy from Luna. You will be glad you did

I am very happy with this purchase. I am not a particularly tall guy (only 5.11) but I did feel a little cramped in the cockpit so I purchased this seat as well as the peg extenders. The seat quality of my seat was perfect. I had heard about the lettering being slightly off-center, however I did not have any problems with the seat I received at all. Installation was a breeze, took a total of about 15-20 minutes.
