This bike is soooooo fun. I am just a regular guy, with minimal experience riding motorcycles and mountain bikes. I use the surron to run short errands around town but mostly to hit the mountain bike trails near my house in So Cal. I got the Kaniwaba pedal kit to look more legal. Ride it all around town and trails as an e-bike. No problems with people or authorities so far but I have been very courteous in my riding around people. Also took it to the desert and did a motocross track and had tons of fun and the bike held up great. Lots of videos online telling you to upgrade all kinds of things but the bike is awesome as is. Buy it. Ride it. Then decide what if anything needs upgrading. If you are an average Joe like me you will love it right out of the box.

I bought two Luna X1s and my wife and I absolutely love them. This bike goes anywhere and everywhere you want it to, they are an amazing value!

Absolutely love this bike. My wife and I each got one. We've put about 100 miles on them so far. I was on the fence about getting ludicrous mode, and ultimately opted not to because range is my priority. I was pleasantly surprised to find that there is still plenty of torque without it - In a low gear there is plenty of power to lift the front wheel, or jerk the bike ahead of you with just throttle.
Pedal assist mode 1 makes the bike feel like a nice lightweight mtb. Mode 2 propels you on flat terrain effortlessly. Mode 3 is fast, even on hills. Hard to go less than 20mph in mode 3 on flat terrain, and you don't even need to try when pedaling uphill. I've only gone into 4 and 5 a couple times so far because they just seem overkill.
Range is better than expected, but be careful with throttle when the battery is low - We have a hill at the end of one of our rides that I'd rather throttle up than pedal on. With about 30% of battery remaining, hitting throttle on a hill will shut down the battery and you will be left pedaling this beast with no assistance. Pedal assist will return shortly, but don't attempt to use throttle when the battery is low.
I had a hard time deciding between 4 and 5 stars on this review, but am going with 4 for a couple reasons:
-The stock tires are great, but they are too big to use all of the cogs on the rear cassette. The lowest three gears cause the chain to rub on the tire. Not really a problem as long as you're aware of it, but plan on swapping tires before using all gears.
-The battery's magnet mount could be improved on a bit. Mine came damaged due to rough shipping. The rivets that hold the magnets on popped. Luna was quick to send a replacement. One more frame mount bolt would remove a lot of the flex that strains the rivets.
-This is just an issue for smaller riders - The smallest available frame is pretty big for my wife (5'4"). Not a problem for easy riding, but it makes technical rides way more difficult and committing.
-Lastly, there aren't mounting points on the rear dropouts or frame, so plan on rigging something together if you plan on adding a rear rack.
My complaints are pretty minimal and I would buy one all over again! Tons of fun.

I always shop with Luna. Have built many bikes and keep coming back to purchase the kit here, there is nothing like riding on a bike with a high powered BBSHD, it changes how you think about bikes and transportation in general.

So glad I decided to wait till Black Friday before I purchased my 1st Surron. By far the best bike I own and I own a few! No need for a finicky ASI controller when I have a stable and reliable factory upgraded ludicrous controller that makes me smile every time I twist the throttle. Thanks Luna....and Surron!

Eggrider is simply magic.

I am very impressed with the performance and the quality of this motorcycle. I do a lot of mountain biking so I am familiar with the component on the bike. But not pedaling is pretty cool and it has a lot more power than I expected. It is probably on the verge of needing some upgraded components. . Part of the mountain bike sickness....N+1.

I received my sur ron xx ludicrous, and it beyond what I was prepared for! The power and torque is NOT for a beginner. This bike wants to wheelie with just one small touch of the throttle. I love this bike even though it scares me. Luna had created a real beast!
