I love my Luna. The torque when riding is great (mainly PAS1 for single windy trails and PAS2 for straighter wider trails). I mainly use for x-country rides and it is just brilliant. I had initial concerns about the weight of an eBike, but I find it helps keep the bike planted on the ground & overall it handles just great, incl turns. I did make a few minor upgrades: bigger chainring, turn throttle (cut it in half so it took up less space), press lever for the dropper post. Also the brakes went squishy after about 4months - I bled the brakes and put in some really good brake pads made for eBikes and now the breaks are working great. Overall would buy again / recommend this bike to others.

I am new to the e-bike world but I am a bike mechanic and from what I have experienced thus far the battery I purchased is well-packaged and it just fits inside my rather compact triangle (barely clearing the shock assembly). I wanted the biggest battery I could fit with the lo gest range and the most power (doesn't everybody). I just tested my rig out and even with a pretty extensive first ride I barely tipped into any significant drain, and the motor pulled strong. I had a custom battery bag sewn up, and now my bike looks like a factory setup (almost...I hace a few stray wires). Equally impressive as the battery (and the cool charger I purchased along with the exclusive Luna battery condition indicator) if not more so is the level of responsiveness I got from the Luna real life human...he took a lot of times textimg me back and forth and he patiently answered all my rookie e-bike questions as he steered me in the right direction.

It broke and dumped all the barings out within a day.

Absolutely love the bike offered from Luna Cycles at the price point they provided. When you compare the Luna X1 to other top brands, there just isn't even a fair competition monetarily speaking. Luna just blows everyone out of the water. Not even a close competition really. The bike really is fully functional and probably perfect for the typical rider without making any major changes.

If I have any critiques, it would be this: The frame is too far pitched forward. I replaced the stock fork with a Fox 38 180. This raised the front end more than 1/2 of an inch and also firmed up the flex of the front end considerably. The bike's stock geometry made it very difficult to loft the front wheel over obstacles without extreme effort from the rider. After raising the front end it's now much easier to loft over trail obstacles and maintain flat air time over larger jumps. With the raised front end the bike still stays planted on steep climbs without requiring the rider to lay on the front end excessively. I also replaced the shock with a coil Fox DHX2, which offered a much smoother ride on the rear wheel. In my opinion, the additional weight of the ebike necessitates a more plush compression option (less progressive). I also see the need to upgrade the drivetrain and wheelset (which which will drop 6lbs) to give the bike a more lively feeling on the trail. All ebikes are heavier than regular mtn bikes, so taking some weight off the ebike would certainly give it a much more lively and flickable feel on the trail. I will be upgrading the drivetrain and wheelset soon & I can give feedback on that, but it's obvious what the results will be.

Again, I would say that the X1 is absolutely an incredible deal for the pricepoint. I just wish the geometry was fixed for all options and there was an additional option for a high end component spec. Most riders will not ever see a need for this, but riders who are used to more demanding trails and higher speeds will agree.

Well I am not sure what I did wrong but I put it together and tested it out and crashed immediately. Not sure If i setup throttle wrong but it was super sensitive.

For a fair price, these are the only offset BB adapters that I could find anywhere! And it is mandatory in order to install a BBSxx in any American style BB.

Replaced my mini with this, and the extra charging speed is amazing when needed. 1amp when charging over night, and 5 amps if a charge is needed on a ride.

Needed to make clearance for the drive chain ring. Fit was good.

Used this on my 2008 Santa Cruz Blur with the Bafang
BBSHD motor. Using a couple of shims I got a perfect chainline with the chain on the 5th cog of my 9 speed rear cassette. And it looks great!!

The programming cable worked just as advertised. It would not connect to my Dell Alienware Windows 10 laptop but I switched to my IBM Thinkpad Windows 10 laptop and it connected right up. So if you cannot get the cable to work, it may be the computer. The stock EL settings were horrendous and I needed to tame the motor down. Settled on JBLabs EL settings and am totally happy with the results for both my Catrike recumbent trike and my Santa Cruz Blur bicycle. Luna has great service and ships right away. This helps because I am in Hawaii.

Ordering & arranging shipping to Hawaii was stress free. The bike was ez to set up. It might be helpful to have a second set of hands to place front wheel on forks. You need to compress left side to align & push axle in. Bike is solid and very fast. I changed handle bar with 3” rise for more comfort.

This throttle is a great replacement throttle for older style Sur Ron throttle assemblies. It takes getting use to because the twist is so light and it's very sensitive but it's easy on the wrist for sure. It can be installed on older Sur Rons you just need to remove the old throttle assembly and remove (or leave) the throttle box. It's a quality Sur Ron part. Also I noted that you can only install the throttle in only one position or else the brake leave will contact it.

Burly! Have to reuse stock bolts and speed nuts, but install was simple as aligning the four bolts. For the OCD riders, it is worth mentioning leftover burrs from the laser cuts remain. For anyone bashing logs, riding rocky terrain or just sending it to flat ground, the investment will give you piece of mind.

Fun so far! Front gear is now a bit further out than the old chainring, I might have to address that later. The 500c display looks nice. On my display the + button seems a little less responsive than the - button
